Someone please explain to me, why a separate forum for show or working lines is a good thing? My thought is that there is already enough separation in the breed. Seems like just another angle to further promote separation.

Most forums have a conformation section and a working section. This is basically the same thing just called show line and working line. Why does it bother working line people that people interested in showing want a place to discuss something they disdain? It is a free forum and people are not mandated to read this section if they do not like it. Views and questions on a forum labled show lines are not going to separate the breed, that is up to the people behind the breeding and lack of support already given to each other online.
What creates the division is the spreading ill will verbally abusing show line dogs on forums when I have noticed most new people to the breed that spout the things said can't even tell the different between the croup and the back or a decent bite. The problem making the division is when a show line owner contacts a working group for schutzhund and their dog is turned away without even evaluating it or meeting you because their first question is your dog a showline? Most people objecting are some of the vary same that have crucified others and show lines and have not once shared their dogs or issues sticking their necks out there to get someone to treat them like they do those brave enough to try. A gsd is a gsd. I admire all gsds of all lines. I respect owners of working lines and would love the same respect in my dogs. Ninty percent of the working lines I see posted on line are not my taste but I am not vulgarly rude to their owners because of their choice in dog and I would appreciate the same respect which I feel is not possible in the open forum. Most dog forums have a norm of at least 10 forum sections. This forum really is not that segmented. There is not a photo forum, a contest forum, a service dog forum... ect. I think if any of those sections where made no one would blink much less cry about it being extra work to look through them lol.

Good post Newbie. By the way I was wondering where you went--good to see you back.
The first time I called a club the person I talked to was so rude--BTW he is very very well known and I won't use his name--he said Do you even have a dog? I felt like saying Duh no I just call around to check things like this out in case I have nothing better to do on a Sat. morning.
I wanted to say here Thank you Mods for making it conformation rather than show lines. That way even us misfits fit somewhere. LOL.
And DeesWolf there is already a big long thread in the general info forum debating what you just asked.
I think it is awesome myself and evidently I'm not the only one cause look how many people are coming over here and posting...........
Keep it up people, we do this need this forum.

This is an excellent Idea.
May I suggest ,those who are knowledgable of computers
and know of papers/articles on the GSD,pl post them.
And for a start the following web sites are required, for reference.
This will provide a clearer picture and a referance point for this thread
1 ) The S V"s G S D Standard
2) Mr. Louis Donald's papers on GSDS.
3) Any other papers/articles by reputable, established judges.
