I think you are wrong. I think many people would die to live here. I don't think we should even consider nuclear bombs. To many innocents would die. If we could just target the bad guys/girls then possibly but we would take out people/children who have done nothing wrong but try and survive. And yes Enema is insane to say such a thing.

I don't question some people still want the opportunity the American dream provides, but that wasn't what I was talking about being lackluster. It is more to do with our gravitas, that embodiment of will and what are enforcable capabilities, that enables us to defend by the force of our percieved will to take the risk, so that the act never gets realized.

We have moved on since then.
How the fuk are you going to nuke the Boston marathon, sheesh.
by beetree on 26 March 2016 - 22:03
Simple. We aren't going to nuke the Boston marathon. The problem is, maybe the next time they will nuke the Boston Marathon.
Yes, that is how far we have moved. Do tell what is the answer? All women should make them feel better and start wearing headscarfs? All men should join the local mosque for evening prayers?
The terrorist culture respects strength. So what does that really mean for us?

They won't use a nuke - maybe a dirty bomb? I don't have an answer for the problem. If a terrorist attack used a real nuclear weapon, then all bets are off.

I already stated what I think needs to be added, a psychological/propaganda type response to undermine irrational beliefs or at least divert them to more benign irrational belief.
These are TRUE believers we are dealing with not your average fake christian. These people believe by strapping on bombs and exploding themselves they go to heaven - that right is the problem you can't beat with air strikes ever.

I think it goes further than that. If non-believers weren't being targeted, then they have their other neverending feud between each other. The leadership hierarchy is what is screwing everyone with this religion. It is accepted as based in secrecy and interpretation. There is no one consensus to be attained, ever.
That is what is used to manipulate the others. And won't be fixed by us, either. That is why the pragmatics of strength and force, work, and nothing else will. IMHO
We fed them weapons, educations, computers, thinking they'd like our way of life, too. Not so. They didn't earn it and therefore, they don't respect it, I think.
All this talk, and of course, the real sticking point is the fact Israel still exists. They can't and won't get beyond that galling fact.

I heard the simile that they are like the mofioso....pay up and we won't hurt you...the 'pay up' for these left over precivilisation prehumans is to join them.
