Thank you everyone. I appreciate all of the info. Bob-O, I will always have a lot to learn. So all of you experienced people out there, just consider me a sponge. I never forget, but realize that things are always changing and improving and our mission is, as always, to better the breed and love our animals.
I live around Charleston, SC. I will check into the machines adn have the utmost faith in my vet, as I used to assist him in surgeries and know his capabilities well. I do use Home Again chips on my dogs, since they are readily available, but like the fact that the Avid chip goes into the muscle and is not allowed to float around Subcutaneously until it finds a spot. Scanners for both of these chips are universal and will read almost all other chips.
Again, thank you all.

Hi Carebear, thanks for that info - I envy your weather for my bird - although she doesnt seem to mind the UK climate, and we had great weather this summer for her. I refuse to have her wings clipped, as I think its an awful thing to do, and dont even like to cage her - so hence, I pay the price of worrying when she does a runner (or a flyer as the saying would go)... I am seen around the village with her favourite bell, a pot of food, and looking up trees calling Co-Co - Yes, neighbours do think strange people have landed in our village, but my nerves just wont allow me to sit quietly and wait for her return. She was bred in the UK and her breeder of many years standing says it is almost unknown for a bird to return if its out more than a few hours - she knows where her bread is buttered, thats for sure.
