Believe me, PSP, this crate is NOT too big! It is 36" x 24' x30". There is no way she can poop or pee in it without soiling herself.

Which reminds me, it's high time she had a bath! WHEW! I moved her crate into my study so I can keep a closer eye on her to help with the house training, and BOY, does she SMELL! When you can smell your dog from 6 ft. away, you KNOW it's bath time, no 'if's, and's or but's!! (Goes to check out the shampoo thread...)

Okay, I've just brought Star in from outside and fed her in her crate. I'm sitting here debating what shampoo to use to bathe her. She's very restless, but I assume it's because she can see Ranger and she wants out to play, but I don't want to give her free rein in the house until she's bathed, because I just got my area rugs back from the cleaners.
After 10-15 minutes, I smell an acrid smell. I look in the cage, and there's pee on the floor. I drag her out, and hustle her outside, because there's no bedding in the cage and she's soaked with urine. I come back to clean up. WOW, that is pretty funky looking pee! Greenish in colour murky looking and very stinky. I get an empty pill bottle and take a sample to the vet's.
No wonder we're having housebreaking problems: she's got a U.T.I.
Y'know they say you should always check if you're having housebreaking problems? Well, I thought, finances are tight right now. The puppy's happy and playful and eating like a hog. In my experience with both dogs and cats, U.T.I.'s are most often brought on by stress. I used to have a cat that would get one EVERY SINGLE TIME I MOVED! (Except, of course for the one time I bought the medication in advance... )
Lesson learned. And I'm $114.00 poorer, but one step closer to housebreaking this puppy.
I hope!
