To me, they are all the same Joan, lol, it is a matter of how much brain space to devote to something I will likely never need to know about. When the Apocalype hits, I will be at a disadvantage, but I'm a quick learner, so I don't overly worry about that, too much. DH did learn to shoot in boot camp so, there is that. I do know that it is vitally important to gun fanciers, though, being precise.

I do feel sorry for people who can afford a... high powered rifle because they are forced to eat squirrel! Wink Smile,

Bee! High powered rifle ? ! "Forced" to eat squirrel? I guess that would be the same as people who are "forced" to eat grouper ? or people who are "forced" to eat quail? Or people who are " forced" to eat rabbit. Or people who are " forced" to eat elk. You get my point, yet?
I'll betcha that if this lovely civilization of ours found itself in the throes of 'Postman' like aftermath, people with a little 22semi- automatic long would eat better than those without one. Just some food for thought. ;-)

You're possibly going to be forced to eat unfamiliar food one day. LOL ;)

Thumbs Up Joanro

BTW, bee, just to shoot my point a little deeper ;), a 22 bullet is hardly any bigger than an air gun pellet. LMAO.

by beetree on 24 December 2012 - 17:12

I was ridiculing, lol, please see topic header!  It was definitely in the vein of "Marie Antoinette".   Tongue Smile

But can't you see the irony I was trying to illustrate?   You crying how you'd be starving, without being able to shoot squirrels for dinner, and thank goodness for you! What awesome ability possessed with the firepower----"overkill" to do it.  Just saying, I don't think your need is as great as your bellyaching about it!

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE NOW SPOKEN THROUGH THEIR PURCHASES

People can bitch about the Second Amendment and the peoples' right to bear arms all they want.  But here is a fact that must be recognized.

The American people have now spoken and their decisions are easily documented.  Semi-auto rifles are literally flying off the shelves they are being sold so fast since the Sandy Hook mass murders.  If folks check the news, many gun stores have sold out and high capacity magazines for these guns are disappearing from stores they are being sold so fast. And yes, handguns of every make and style are now being sold at the highest rates in history. Gee, I wonder why?

Why does the public want these semi-auto rifles, especially the AR style ones with removable high capacity magazines?  You can find out, go to your local gun store and ask customers and clerks.  They will tell you that the reason is FEAR.  The primal survival fears of the public at large have been elicited by a corrupt, hijacked centralized govt that has its own agenda which caters to the super-elite deviants, offshore banksters who hijacked America and the wealthy offshore international corporations.

Customers have become afraid of two things:  First they are afraid of societal breakdown and mass rioting and home invasions;  second, they are afraid now of their own govt which they view as going criminal and they fear they may not be able to buy such a gun later on so they want one now.  And many are never going to give them up either under any circumstances (Charlton Heston's "Cold Dead Hands" commitment).

Both of these primal beliefs suggest that American society has deteriorated rapidly and people no longer believe it is going to have a good ending. They are worried like never before and most (80%) do not trust their own federal govt.  They realize now for the first time that their govt is little more than a group of super-elite deviants bought and sold every election by wealthy international corporate entities who have asset stripped the American Taxpayer for  their own wealth and power acquisition. So we have a situation when K-Street Lobbyists can be hired to funnel millions from any country, for example China or Japan to get the laws and deals they want and most Congress critters gladly take the money for their campaigns.  Of course other perks are secretly provided too.

Folks are starting to realize the their own govt has used their tax dollars to finance a covert war against the American people which may become an overt civil war at any time (perhaps it has been planned that way).  America has been hijacked by foreign banksters and wealthy international corporations who do not give a damn about American citizens at all.  And the major mass media (6) is operating as a virtual propaganda dispenser for these self-serving ruling elites inside the beltway.

Bee, you missed the tree rat, thing. Tree rats are destructive, I shoot them to when they are stealing eggs or damaging the veg garden, therefore protecting food I am "forced" to eat. I suppose I could put out poison, the way most people do. But I despise poisons for reasons obvious to most dog owners. Bellyaching about it; now that's a good one, Bee. How much farther can you twist this ridiculous exchange?

Joan

Ps. I usually find validity in in what you say, but this time you are being silly.

by beetree on 24 December 2012 - 18:12

I didn't miss anything... they belong in the environment, you can cope with them without obliteration.  Or rather there are more suitable ways of obliteration.

How silly of an idea is that?

In the northland, semi-auto rifles are flying off the shelves.

So, let's just say since the sales are record high, ownership is record high, and yet what just happened? This should be the safest we've ever been...... Firefighters battling a blaze, shot and killed in a driveby!
