Glad to hear it Bee. The wife is into visual art; me, not so much. As far as the kids, it's interesting, because there are things similar to this that I can remember from when I was a kid that in no way could I have fully appreciated at the time.

I did leave the hubby home and took a girlfriend, instead. Not everyone appreciates a good art exhibit, that is true! Nothing worse than wanting to contemplate a really good visual piece, and the person next to you is looking at the door, saying okay, aren't you done yet?
You might be interested to know that they are actually accumulating statistics with some known information type company, (I really should pay more attention to these names, I guess?) because they want to be able to statistically prove the benefits of arts in our education! All about proving the left side of the brain is as important to our learning as the right side of our brains. The innovators rely on it.

I do know that this has long been the argument of developmentalists who support the child-driven model of early education, in the vein of Reggio Emilia and the like. I have some issues with it, having nothing to do with the focus on creativity, but there is merit to be sure.

Of course, I had to go read up on Reggio Emilia! I can see how you might apply some of those principles to what I have described. These were fifth through eighth graders. They did include children musicians and a small chorus. This is a mostly black community school.
You surely did not attend this type of inner city school did you? I would have guessed that you must have been a Prep kid.

Carlin,
polls are poison fruit period. can be manipulated, no manipulation is the sole reason for them.
Take your own poll sometime, one little variation in how or what you ask can completely change everything.
As for Hilary, well she's got the money behind her sorry old ass, a lot of old favors owed.
Both sides of my brain tells me this is true...
It was an interesting program, The Journey of the Universe, on PBS.

Bee - my schooling was interesting. I did attend prep school from k-12. The funny part was, it happened to be in the inner city. I'd be dropped off at relatives early in the am, walk to school and back, and spend the balance of the day in the city, until I was picked up again in the evening. I ended up with two seperate kinds of educations. My introduction to the second kind was when I was walking from school one day (as a first grader), and got attacked by some wacked out 13yr old. Welcome to reality.

I think I read somewhere that Soros already made his monetary pledge to Hillary.
I'll have to check out Journey into the Universe.

Personally I'm done with politics, the real power is in lobbying and campaign fund raisers.

I can't blame you there moons. It's sobering. I suppose one of the reasons I don't, is because of something you learn about the part of the mechanism of control. It has a lot to do with a slow, but deliberate grinding process, which anticipates the numbness and fatigue of the people. That notion alone leaves enough of a bad taste in my mouth to keep moving.
