The vet just called me with pathology results. It was a histiocytoma which is benign. Great news! The link below has information on this type of tumor. Thanks for the thoughts and kind words!

Thanks for the update, that is good news.
Those suckers can blow up to a huge size very quickly (I saw a client's dog have one go from pea sized to quarter sized in a week), so it's a good thing you had it taken off right away. Even though it was benign, a big tumor would have left him with a scalped nose and a skin graft.
It's always nice to see someone get right on top of something like this and fix it right away instead of dithering around for ages. Your dog is lucky to have you.
