Could it be that Mike is a great handler and Flinks is a great trainer. 2 completely different things.........

I would say they are both great trainers and great handlers, that is very obvious.  I don't see the point in arguing about who is better.  Both guys have handled, owned, trained, worked the streets and competed with their dogs.  They have pretty impressive records that speak for themselves.

CopDogs,
Mike is a trainer, Flinks is kinda a trainer who helps trainers in Germany.
People like Jogie Zank, have used Flinks, and Bellon to bring up his scores.
If your are competing in this country you need to use them when they are in your area.

Sam,
"Well I think you don't know nothing" this sound like a retard.

The problem is not  me, but people who come here, that are racist and sexist.
I happen to know a lady who is 40ish and is a very good trainer. I have alot of
respect for her.  When you have a 283 at the last WUSV and have a world title of any kind
than you can worry about what others think.

But thanks for all you have to say.

by Sam Spade on 30 July 2010 - 17:07

Thanks for acting like a 58 year old man! Next time you quoute one of my sentences with poor grammar, please quote me correctly. Jim, I never said or argued that one was better than the other. Max has a bone to pick with Mike and he doesn't even know him. I think we have some great trainers here, but they seldom get mentioned. Maybe Ivan once in a while.

by CopDogs on 30 July 2010 - 18:07

The proof is in the scores I suppose. Mike does well and from what I have heard a dog that holds up to him is a hard forgiving dog LOL. The one aspect about Mike is he has had good success with more than one dog. A lot of trainers do really great with one dog but never seem to be able to do it again.  There are some but not a lot. I really think that more Americans would be higher on Flinks had it not been the Leerburg tape deal as many people here simply don't like Ed Fraley......Either way all 3 trainers you are discussing are world class and thats a fact.

I had an old Belgium friend of mine once say that what made the difference between a great trainer and a good one was the dog...... The great one happened to get dog that would match with them.....

Sam,
You ask me who I thought was better, And I tried to answer your question,
the best I could.

I have said what I have said about Mike and his dog, but I have also said I don't know
Mike. How could I, when Mike first started Schutzhund in 1992, I was working
the dog who won the USA National that year in Sacramento. Glen Bennett's dog
Buck. I left that club because of Jack Smith who is a peice of shit, that builds
bowling Allys. He knows Gene England and Willi Ortner who are good guys.
But Jack  is a scoundrel. But that is common knowledge. No great revelation. I
know Ivan from his first bitch Nikita. And he was very green back than when
we were winning Nationals.

If you what to compare Flinks with Mike google Eric von Sportspark. Zanks dog,
and than google Erri and compare them.  Mike got a 277 last year at the WUSV,
Zank has won it( WUSV) twice and came in second once, all with very respectable scores.
That's the best I can do with your STATS.

I heard of Flinks back in 1996 when he was still very young, him and a guy
you probably don't know by the name of Hans Freitag.

Even back than people were saying wow that Bernhard dude is really , really good.

I am a 58 years old and have been a man all my life. 30-35 years training dogs and talking to dumb asses like yourself.

Go get a beer and shut up!!!!!!!!!

Denise........ Please call!!!!!!!!!

Max, then your reading comprehension sucks. I never once asked you who was better. You stated that Flinks was one of the best in the world. Then I asked what that made Mike Diehl. Not once did I ask or infer that one was better than the other. I also asked what their stats were in head to head competition. You did not want to answer any questions. You like to name drop and act like somebody special. I've trained with a lot of the same people, but that doesn't make me shit! I've also trained with some pretty lousy trainers at a few clubs in my day. Does that make me lousy? Quit the name dropping. It only makes you look insecure. Playing basketball with Labron James doesn't make you a king.

That would be imply.  The definition of imply is basically "what you say" vs infer which is "what you hear".

by Sam Spade on 31 July 2010 - 02:07

Thank you Phil. You are correct.
