Jenni, I'd love to. I take it you're in NoCal with 4pack?

by Jenni78 on 30 August 2010 - 13:08
I'm outside Chicago. Where are you?
On another note, is anyone near me who would be willing to help me out w/some PP stuff? Someone who knows what they're doing? I mean real protection- not SchH w/out OB and tracking. My dogs haven't been worked in ages and I'm on my own.

Jen he is going to be 4 Sept 30th.
I was in awe of what was going on with my dog, but terrified the muzzle was going to come off or pushed aside. He did really well for his first session and seemed to enjoy it.

I had to order a Rott muzzle for Caleb. The GSD ones don't fit his muzzle or head and you don't want an improperly fitted muzzle- kinda defeats the purpose, lol.
I think he was about 3 also if I remember right. I think you have to be sure a dog is ready for that kind of mental pressure before doing that or you can really set them back confidence-wise. It can be a great confidence booster when they realize that even without biting they are a formidable opponent and can defeat a man, which is where I think the enjoyment comes in. I just notice w/mine after a lot of pressure has been put on him, both physical and mental, that he seemed calmer than I had ever seen him.

Duke,
NVBK is to Belgium Ring Sport......as the SV is to ScHh........All FCI reg. malinois have
some NVBK bloodlines.
NVBK is synonymous with Belgium Ring Sport. Which as I have said is the best dog sport
in my opinion.
Holland ....PH1 or PH2........KNVP
Each organization has their own way of testing their dogs.
There are unregistered dogs used in NVBK Ringsport though. But most of them are
registered.
The NVBK sanctions the Judges for Belgium Ring Sport.

whatever you say max , you probably know better than me
funny that overthere where you live nvbk is FC Ireg , because in belgium it is not
ringsport was founded in 1913 by KCB (kennel club belge) that also wasnot registered by FCI , as the FCI registered kennelclub , by the name of saint hubert , refused to organize workingtrails , therefore many workingdogclubs started the KCB
later on when the sainthubert lost many entries they bowed their heads and accepted ringsport and started to organize their own trails
at that point many sportmalinois had two names and two registrynumbers , one for KCB and one for sainthubert
over the time more and more people got back to sainthubert because it is the only belgium studbook that is FCI reg.
KCB still exist but is a very small dissident club
later on , also because workingline breeders were not satisfied with sainthubert , they started NVBK , which till today is NOT FCI reg.
if you want I even can give you the results of the first ever ringsportcompetitions (not FCI reg.)

Duke,
I do know better than you, you have it backwards. FCI is not a Registry, but a
governing body. LOSH is the Belgium Registry. It does recognize NVBK dogs that have
been approved of by there registry. It is not easy registering an NVBK with LOSH which
is a all breed registry. Only some dogs are on there list. But if you look at any Malinois
pedigree you will see NVBK dogs, especially DP2 dogs. NVBK is a working Malinois
registry that started up in 1963 to focus on the working character of the dog. And this is
why the breed is so phenomenal today..
NVBK.......with over 100 clubs in Belgium and 3000 members. Still only 100 dogs
receve their Cat 3 a year. ..KNVP will Title 1000 dogs a year. .... And ScHh 10,000.
The thing I like the most is it does not matter what you do with your dog, NVBK
will improve it's performance.

its not possible registering NVBK dogs at LOSH , some openings are there to registr a no pedigreedog at LOSH , that takes several generations to have official pedigree , also some tricks are pulled , by sending a NVBK dog to a country were everything is not organized yet , like some former russian republiks , there they brred with NVBK dogs and get FCI pedigree on the puppies , thats how NVBK dogs get on LOSH pedigree
other than that NVBK dogs are regarded the same as no pedigreedogs , about the same as dutch KNPV breeders withcrosses can have their bloodlines registered on bloedlijnen.nl , but that doesnot make them registrable with any FCI recognized organization in any official way

Duke,
Some older NVBK kennels were Registered with Losh registry. But there has
been Problems with NVBK dogs having unregistered sires and dams. So now
it is easier for people to go around it I guess. They fill in the blanks with dogs that are
registered. The NVBK and the KNVP will not throw out a good working dog because of
a unregistered dog in there lineage. Their main focus is the working aspect, which is now
catching on here. It is hard to tell some times.... and I have seen dogs who had their pedigree's
change over night... But until DNA is enforced, I don't think things will change for a while.

some NVBK dogs , have a half pedigree , nothing known about the sire or dam , , and yes some of them are breeding good dogs , but lots of them are not breeding better or worse than pedigree or KNPV malinois
but still not registrable anywhere in the modern world
what does happen is that another sire than mentioned on the paperwork will breed the female , and pedigrees are incorrect , I personally know about several dogs in todays workingbreeds that have an incorrect pedigree , even some that qualfied for the FCI worldchampionships , so the result was as desired
