The puppies will have to be whelped in a remote spare bedroom. This was a very big issue when buying Hanny........ not having a kennel. We are not set up, and we know it....We will have to "make due" with this litter. When the puppies are weaned, I hope to have them in the garage - depending on weather.....If its too hot, they will have to stay in an indoor kennel in our dog room.....
I promised Taunya that Hanny would live out the rest of her life in our home - and retire as a couch potato. When we build our new home we will have a "kennel room" inside/outside runs......Hanny will have carte blanch..........
The massages, rag work and other "responsibilities" are things I'm looking forward to. The more I can learn about this the better!

OMG I'm a spare bedroom / garage breeder........I don't even qualify for "back yard breeder"!
When we build our new home, it will have a "kennel room" with out door kennel runs.......our dogs will live in our home and when we are away will be put up in the kennels when we are away.......
I have purchased two dogs that were bought up in kennels, you guys will have to proove that its better then being raised in the home.......

Again, very good statements here and "small breeder" does not mean the same as "backyard breeder". I think we all know that BYB is a dirty word used to describe the ignorant masses who throw together two dogs who are purebred (kinda) for a few bucks a few times a year with no care to physical or mental correctness or health.
I agree with our dearly departed Max, I cannot see how a breeder with a kennelful of dogs, no matter how high quality or well titled, can truly know what they are producing when the dogs live in a run and get only minutes of interaction a day once their show career is over and titles are complete. It's no way for a dog to live and no way for a breeder to really know what they're producing.

I'm more worried about Sita being a bitch, then Hanny........I will have to watch her closely. I have an extra high babby gate......she willl not be able to jump over......They will be kept seperate until the puppies are weaned.
I have 3 weeks to make Hanny feel safe and at home.......I thnk we can do it..
Micheal49, What do you do with them once they get to 4 weeks?

You will need to not watch Sita you will need to keep her away for a while..You will have to introduce this female to the family first. and there is a right way to do this....I had a high quality GUARD DOG that we purchased before my husband died ..my introduction to the German bloodline german shepherd..long before I knew anyone with one...Our business was on the main interstate in Texas...easy access on and off hit me in head and off with the money or any car on our premises..
we bought a completely trained GUARD DOG and we had to learn how to introduce him to two kids and me and my hubby.....I learned very valuable tips...used by anyone with any german shepherd...they all have the same MO and same traits FOR MASS DESTRUCTION OF YOU OR THE OTHER BITCH OR MALE ON YOUR PROPERTY..
BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THEIR DOMAIN SELF PRESERVATION MODE GOES INTO EFFECT THE MINUTE THE LEASH IS IN YOUR HAND AND SHE IS ON YOUR PROPERTY
YOUR FEMALE WILL GO INT IMMEDIATE PROTECTION MODE WHETHER SHE EVER HAD IT BEFORE OR NOT..
it will be automatic....so you need to be prepared as to how to introduce even a nice mild even mannered dog that walks with female dogs in Slavicia...she will be in TEXAS not home...her new MO will change .....
Please do not think for one moment ...that she will be or accept your female or your male ...at first....there is an introduction period....and your family also...
Take 1 Doggie 2's word for what I am saying...I warned her a year ago....many times....she is recovering from Bag Balm ussage!!!!!
My description of wounds from dog bites...from seperating two gsd....plus more.
Ok enough said as to why it is not just peaches and cream with HAnny ...she is pg also.....we hope...so just beware of what has to be done...No free roaming of any dog on the premises ........maybe not ever... Hanny and Hero yes...later...Hanny and SIta no no no no..dont even think......or do it....maybe after the pups are long gone...an Alfa Sitasmom might achieve it but not now....
