So do most people.
I don't want to speak for Bob, he is doing fine by his-self, but what I don't get is why people take a breed known for one trait, such as strong prey drive and want to dumb it down? There are PLENTY of breeds out there that would fit your bill, without altering the GSD breed. Why not get a Grt Pyr? Or a coated collie? Or a malamute? These are all breeds that probably wouldn't nip you either as pups. No disrespect intended, just wondering because so many people try and do this. You see it in the pit bull breed right now. That breed can no longer legally do what it was bred for except in very specific cases if hog or cattle control, but there is no need to "dumb down" the breed as is done by the "American bully" folks. So, I'm just curiousas the Shiloh shep seems to me to be the "American Bully" of the Shep world. Thanks in advance for your reply.

We don't jump up and foam at the mouth anytime someone says something positive about their Malinois or their Pit Bull, or says why they prefer their breed, so can we please at least afford the same courtesy to the Shiloh people?
I used to be one of the worst offenders, then I grew up.

Hopefully a Shiloh owner can anwser, as I am curious. Just because it is not what I would do, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. However, I DO respect breed standards - something I wish more breeders did as well.

Oh come on, do you really think anyone wants to see their breed described as a "dumbed down" anything? Nothing rude, obnoxious or argumentative about that at all, no not in the least. lol, lol

This is a board where people (should be able to) express opinions about different subjects without getting their panties in a knot. Obviously you are having an "issue" with me, fine, but unless you own a Shiloh, perhaps you will let them reply.
Yes, I have strong feelings about "dumbing down breeds". And, I hope to find a reasonably stable, reasonably intelligent person who perhaps feels strongly about what they have done with Shilohs, who will say to me "Hey, I'm SAVING the GSD breed from being vicious twits"!
Its called having an adult discussion.
Try it sometime! ; )

I don't have a problem with you, but perhaps you are unaware of the history of Shiloh discussions on this message board. Every time someone brings up a Shiloh Shepherd the same old argument breaks out. I am not passing judgment because I used to be one of the worst.
Sunsilver deserves to bring up her dogs and start threads without being harassed by people. You have to admit that asking someone about their breed but including "dumbed down" in the description isn't exactly nice!
Here are some of the multiple Shiloh threads:

Should I tell you for the hundreth time that Tina Barber created the Shiloh because the American line dogs were becoming such shitters, and she wanted a dog that looked more like the old style GSD, a sound dog with good hips, a straight back, and sound temperment? And above all, a dog that was FAMILY FRIENDLY, but still able to protect its home?
Go read the threads for yourself. I am done here. And I am not posting pictures of my Shiloh so you lot can rip her apart!!
P.S.: Steve, that's great that you love your dog and appreciate her for what she is. I have nothing against working line dogs, and actually prefer them to the show line GSDs. Maybe someday I will buy a working line pup, and then I will expect to get my toes nipped if I have to get up at 4 am!
