My vet told me he's seen issues in puppies who were kept on soft surfaces during young age.  He said they need to walk and move on hard surface.  I guess this issue was more from people keeping them in a padded whelping area for too long.  I think walking in sand is good for them, right?

If I had pups, I would like to wean them onto raw and never feed them kibble, just MHO.

There have been studies supporting Hip Dysplasia being not just genetic, I would have to look for them, but I've heard vitamin c supplement and joint supplements are good for puppies and throughout life.

Yes, I can see that a slippery floor surface would not be good for a young Puppies Legs sliding around as we know they will. I have always kept them outdoors and most know a Concrete Base never a problem Dogs living outdoors do not really keep walking around too much they do look at what is going on the Birds etc and me working away only Yards from them it occupies there time between Walks and Training. For the New Pup Gina there was a little problem with her for 3 or 4 days but nothing to do with feeding.

I live about 25 miles from the Southern Dutch Border, Where you lived was Friesland that is right up more North  Central Holland and about 180 miles into Holland I know several pigeon fanciers up that way in Tuk.
My Niece moved To Canada in 2004 same time i moved To Belgium she lives right past Vancouver up in the Okanaga.

So what we can see here is slippery floors are not good for a young Pups legs if he lives on that surface as he develops, that looks to be certainly not good for the Joints, Protein debatable,
Calcium i am myself very strict on that but have no real  proof except the Dogs with a normal Joints that i have bought up
the amount of food given, and over weigh Puppies, thats what has been said to date by the posters, anything else you Guys can come up with which may help everyone rear the Pups just that little bit better which may have a bearing on bad growth of joints

I cannot see no point in adding bone meal to the diet, You cannot put what is not there , However with the Joint Supplement  Hokamix you can protect what is there. Just my thoughts on it
