Saw an ad here for pups for sale and checked the link......did not stay long....for obvious reasons.

by wrestleman on 02 May 2010 - 00:05

2 different prices I do not understand. If its not a quality pup I would and have given them to a pet home who I know will take care of them. If they are good working prospects I will sell them reasonably to people I know who will work them or give them to a friend who trains.. I am not in the puppy business so to me I will breed a litter to get a pup or 2 to train with. The reason for these crazy high prices is simple because people will pay it.................Stop paying the inflated prices and they will come down. If we stopped importing all the high priced dogs from Europe the prices would drop as would the shipping cost. It always makes me laugh when I see adds on here for pups from untitled un-proven parents for $1800 -$1200  Especially the adds that are for DDR  line pups or Chez pups from all untitled parents and GParents. Its like they are saying these are rare or something LOL.....I never bought a bitch with the intent to make the money I paid for her off pups. I got the best bitch I have ever owned from a friend last year both parents multiple sch3 and national competitor's for only $500 of course it was friends who new it would be worked and cared for. It just amazes me at the prices people on here ask for the pups. Usually they are then offered at 6 or 8 months with no training from same people for less. So why not ask less and find the right homes from the beginning.

Ibrahim..
  small wrold.

Ox and Orin are equally good dogs. Ox is a looker and Orin has a good looking side to him LOL. They both are very good workers.

I intent to put PSA on him and finish his FH titles. He just got his FH1.

I love the combo you got there. I met Illo and couple of his progeny and they all had good heart for work as we say in Czech (srdickar). I love those type of dogs. Have fun with your puppy.....

the breeder is over the hill from me. I am the one who has to say the owners that these are OK pets..but.... no work since they are low drive. They are pretty disapointed but oh well.

Wrestleman,

I will debate this because what you wrote, well I dont agree.
I have given dogs away, placed them helped find new homes. I don't understand why I should give my puppies to somebody for free to have a nice pet. Just because I have a nice car but is no porsha doesn't mean I have to just give it away. I would like to cover the cost and maybe have a little extra for dog food..

No shame in that!

OR I can say all my puppies are SUPERSTARS and start charging 2500 usd.. would that make people happier?

My bestest dog was given to me for free. I put over 5 thousand dollars into that dog in training and his stud fee help me pay for more trainig. NO shame in that...
My female costs me usually between 3-6 thousand byt the time I am done trainig (which is never) and I charge for puppies to even that cost out as well. NO shame in that.
I don't purchase titled females because I like to know what I have, good or bad. It takes me forever.. I don't have more than 2 litters in 2 years but I like that, I work my dogs till they can work and It costs $$$. No shame in not going into negative... I like to be able to pay for the vet bill also.
I was raised in the old fasioned Slovakian way... if the dogs are not working for themselves, then dont have them.  No shame in that.

Sam there is another valid reason for wanting AKC reg on dogs bred in the States, and many of us can't stand AKC, but have to have that registration.   In order to compete in an FCI trial, the dog must be registered with AKC if the dog was born and bred in the USA because FCI  recognizes only the  AKC as the registration organization for the States.  Same thing with WUSV.  Now obviously not every one is going to compete on the world wide stage, but no one wants their options shortened for lack of acceptable registration!

As far as different prices for limited registration and full registration, I understand why some  breeders have different prices for different pups in a litter.  I would definitely balk from a breeder who  offers  the same pup but at  different prices depending on whether or not the buyers  want full or limited registration.  No thanks!

Just for interest and i am asking because i really do not know, What is a normal price you Guys in the USA would pay or be asked for a Puppy say weaned 8 to 10 weeks old, From excellent working line stock with Parents Korclassed 1 or 11 and titles to ScH3, and of course from good breedable joints etc.
I do not mean the freight charges etc just the basic Puppy price say from Germany, Belgium and Holland. I guess i could ask over here but that is not my way for i do not pry into a breeders business
I do see inflated prices asked from your own country, so it is just for a matter of interest nothing else

Can I come to Czech when pups are given away?

Just curious. Is that why there seems to be alot of dogs that are imported from the Czech to the US now than before?

I almost bought a dog from a litter some time back. All I had to do was get out the ol' pocketbook and pay. The breeder asked me if I wanted full registration I had to pay more. I politely got up and walked out.

I understand limited registration to a point. Ive placed pups on contracts not to breed. But if someone really wants to protect their lines they need to require altering the dog. With AKC's silly registration it used to be that one could just switch dogs on the papers and voila instant registration. At least now they have a better way to id dogs. Its about time. If horses required photos why not dogs.

Redsable: The problem with breeders paying for registration here in the states is that you'd better be buying from an honest one. I bought a bitch from a third party (bad idea) who said that papers were "on the way". After I really started complaining the third party gave me the name of the breeder and I started calling her. I even drove to where she lived and hounded her. I FINALLY GOT THE PAPERS MONTHS later only to find out the dog had EPI so I had to exchange her for another pup.

Lesson learned. No papers no deal.

Im not a fan of limited registration. I alter most of my dogs anyway. I dont want to be limtied if I find that dog I busted my buns on does well and I want to breed the dog. If Im going to be required to alter, then I hunt through a rescue and get the dog for cheap.
