If it was 2009 early summer then yes I was. Any later and I had already moved to NC.

Great place to visit and play tourist.... hated living there.

Melissa,

The only reason I asked is because if the snake was really that big I'm sure it would have made the local papers and TV, so do you remember it?

Thanks Melissa,

So according to the article "NO ONE" measured the snake's length. LOL

Anyway it sure looks huge to me.

And to answer Molly's question, yes they killed it.

Nope, no one measured it.. have no idea why the heck not. I'd want to know.

You're welcome Ninja.

That's a shame if they killed it. Really no reason to. I used to raise rattlers in my younger days. Had 16 of them with the longest @ 6' 7" Had a grey one, Western Diamonback @ 3' long but @ 4  4 1/2" wide. That one was MEAN as shit! Only had him around two wks. Had a freak accident and got bit. But with rattlesnake venom doesn't matter about it being an accident. One fang just nicked me, (thought I was faster) but that little nick shot 30 ccs of venom in me. Poison reached all the way to the lining in my lungs almost killed me.

My father was born and raised in Texas on a ranch and would tell me of the hands, cattle  and horses being bit and just a night of problems, nausiness etc. So, I wasn't too worried when it happened. Unfortunately it was nothing like Pops had said. Went to hell and back a couple times while in CCU for five days.

The irony is my bud , (there was a small group of guys that caught snakes) was bitten the same day I  was. He  had separated from the military a few weeks prior so, as a civilian he was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital and since I was military I went under Kirtland AFB military care. All of us had a preplanned if any one had gotten bit. The original plan was to go to a private civilian hospital. But the pain was too intense. And being a young full of piss and vinegar cop, being invincible etc. one didn't realize that all the walking was pumping the venom faster throughout your body.

The second irony is that I was Kirtland AFB's first snake bite victim and that treatment would be coming off a computer per se. But I'm still here and the operating team did great.

It would be a shame if they didn't kill it twice.
