No, I've been calling around all day trying to find a vet willing to do that. I would rather have the risks of the shot (since otherwise God knows what he's going to do with her because he doesn't want crossbred pups) but no one around here will do it. Prostaglandin seems the "safest" for this kind of thing, but I can't find a vet to do even that, which is why I thought if it seemed safe enough, I could possibly convince him to just let her have the pups and I'd take care of it from there. I don't mind whelping them and finding homes.
Both are very nice dogs, and neither have a temperament that is of concern, though GSD/Pit is not typically one of my favorite mixes. My big concern was for her, personally, as she is at the mercy of a selfish moron who thinks it's perfectly acceptable for her to pay for his stupidity and carelessness.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Really, this has nothing to do with me, and I should just butt out, but of course I can't. This stuff happens all the time and part of me just wishes no one mentioned it to me. <sigh>

the female will have the litter with no problem what so ever. every gsd-pit litter I have seen resemble mals and are healthy very bright and strong dogs. the pups can be given away or sold as mal crosses. they will be cool dogs. the breeding should not have been made but too late now. sure not the worst breeding possible. much worse being sold here on the db.

I know how you feel, I have a moron neighbor too. He kept his Leonberger unfixed and tried to convince me to allow him to breed my girl….He also was the one, that allowed his dog to die of twisted stomach. It was 4th of July and he was “waiting” to hear from his vet… We have 24/7 emergency clinic 15 minutes away…

Truthseeker, thanks. My concern was not general, but specific to this little pup but as I said, last I saw her she was small. There are some really big GSDs in those lines. Both are very well bred, but unfortunately not the same breed, lol!
It's entirely possible I'm over-reacting due to the idiocy of it and she might be bigger than I remember. I have seen some very cool GSD/Pit crosses. I am not worried about finding homes for them; hopefully there won't be too many. I am going to see if I can convince him to let me take her, at least until she whelps and they are weaned.
Thanks to both of you. I am far from some crazy animal activist who is always trying to 'rescue" other people's animals, but when someone does something so stupid and then is going to fix it by killing the poor pup instead of spaying her, because "she's no good if she can't have babies"- as if it's HER fault, it just sickens me. I don't understand why people who think like that are into animals. Makes no sense to me.

I have zero experience with breeding dogs (other than what I read and learn from literature from time to time), but I do have an opinion about people playing a game of mixology with perfectly good breeds. It should be a criminal offense. Sadly you can't fix stupid in some people. They see nothing wrong with bastardizing breeds, that good breeders have worked so hard to build up. I'll end my rant there, in the event I carry on, and offend anyone.

I know of a bassett impregnanted by a st. bernard and she delivered naturally and normally and that size variation is surely larger than in this case. I really haven't seen that many pits that are bigger than GSD. I do agree that an x-ray is a good idea. But maybe she won't even "take". We can hope, anyway!

Loyalville, the PIT BULL is the PUPPY. She is maybe 40lbs, and she's kind of stocky. Not very big at all, though I'm going to try to see her today and evaluate her myself. The GSD is the bigger dog and while he is a medium/large dog, he has some very large dogs in his lines and it's not uncommon to have 100lb males, which is what scares me w/a puppy delivering pups close to the size of some of mine.
I feel much better though after a few responses...and as Bassettt/St. Bernard? No kidding? Well, then we oughta be fine!
Now I just have to be extra charming and act like I'm doing him the biggest favor in the world by taking her off his hands. ;-)
If anyone has a degree in hillbilly psychology, please let me know any tips you've learned, LOL.
Here's an old pic of her I took this fall:

Jen, You asked for hillbilly logic, since I am a hillbilly Thats why you don't use big bulls over small cows but vise versa. It's the delivery. The female is just a baby. I know you tried but if she was mine I'd abort them if any way possible. If not the vet can take them like the Bully dog pits, most of them have to be taken by cissarian (sp). The guys attitude tells me he ain't got no business with a dog of any kind.

I understand what you are saying hank, but a cow has a single calf, where as a dog has usually more than one pup.
When I was young my dad had a shepherd/collie and I had a small little spaniel cross. Somehow they mated and I was very worried, but she whelped just fine on her own, with just two puppies.
I could be wrong, (it's happened once or twice) but I imagine she'll be just fine.
