Thanks for the answers.  I was curious because I had been told that by several people, and I wanted opinions from the rest of the dog community on the fact.

When I have raw meat to feed my dogs, it does not go uneaten, either.  The first time I offered it, Oakley took a little bit to figure out that she was supposed to eat it, but no problems now.

As for bacteria and dogs, there seem to be several different schools of thought on that one, as well.  I understand that dogs can be sickened by bacteria, just like humans.  However, I've seen dogs eating off roadkill carcasses, blackened and rotting, and they don't seem to have any major trouble, either.

Thanks again for the opinions.

There were actually some previous discussions on this board about this topic. Pork can also contain the Aujetzky Virus that is deadly for dogs and cats.
You  can google the Aujetzky Virus and get several opinions on that.

Yes, any study can show anyone anywhere that    Aujetzky Virus , salmonella, you name it,,,is possible..but I cannot find one vet in this county that has ever seen it...

You can study till the cows come home...does not mean in my are it is there...So crys can ask vets near here how many cases of what you named and probably fine  NONE

This is Texas and so far , I have fed raw pork   raw chicken and raw beef and deer meet  looked at by my butcher  , who has one of my gsd...and she waits at the end of the slaugher table with bated breath..not one of us has ever had a sick dog....

There are far more dangerous  contents in a bag of KIBBLE and BITs and Pedirgee or Purina dog chow than in any properly cut and stored raw meat.

In foreign countries they have other issues...Just know who grows your beef, pork or chicken before you buy it and you will be ok...Better to buy chickens local on ground as well as eggs raised in your farm down the street than in the store....

Sure were good BROWN EGGS I had for breaksfast today....yum  yum.....

LOL, I agree, the stuff in most kibble is dangerous, too.
I worked as a vet tech in Germany in the 1980's and we had some serious issues with Aujetzky Virus. Thats all I can say...

Yes , probably so, and now in Haiti they have Colera and here in the USA we have whooping cough on the rise again...Just never can be too careful to not check out   the possiblilities..but....

Most vets also frown on raw...they do not study GERMAN SHEPHERDS diets....When I went to Eurpope about 15 yrs ago,,, the way they make cheese in Holland surprises me that more people do not die....the place under a windmill was not the cleanest.

The cows on the hillside with the big bells under their chin were breath taking sites....and the way a lot of bread and milk sits on the sidewalk out in open , until people wake up to open the door and take it inside....was stonishing also...Grapes with people stomping them with feet...lots of things we do not even take second thought of over seas,,,but they all seem to be healthy...Some eat raw fish , raw berries and raw veggies that are even of the poison listings,,,and they still walk , talk and shout ....   life is a miracle in the Express Lane..

Our bodies can survive a lot and even repair themselves...sure makes for a THANKSGIVING  DAY ...coming soon...

Mine love pork, and it is often on the menue, pigs head and trotters are consumed very happerly by mine, and they love it when i bake the skin and give it to them as a treat,
It's on the menue just like anyother meat i can get . If we were to listen to every thing written about foods we would only be vegetarians, and even then they would think of something to stop us eating the veg too

I feed a lot of pork but I always make sure it's been frozen awhile.

I stopped feeding pork because of Pseudorabies Virus (Aujeszky's disease).  The disease is fatal to dogs.  Pseudorabies is present in a large proportion of the feral hog population, which can be transmitted to the domestic pig populations, though it has not been seen in US commercial pig populations since 2004.

I do feed pork. However  when I have fed raw pork my dogs  often ended up with tape worm.
Thus I cook it for my dogs now. Also if I personally eat non-organic pork then I have next day symptoms of hangover. But not if I eat organic pork or if I eat pork in Europe. I believe it is because none organically kept pigs are fed crap, chemicals, and who knows what else.....
