There is a difference between a tiny white spot that is indicative of old working lines and white that grows and leads to loss of pigment in a line down the road. While they are different, it's one of things like "what's a bicolor" that we can write a thousand threads about and get absolutely nowhere.

"Awful" ?

My girl has a small white patch on her chest that has grown with her.  No white toes as a pup, just this white patch.  I assumed it would disappear as she got bigger but that is not the case.  I've seen some dogs with the blaze and it is distracting but a white tipped tail!  Liver & blue!  Tsk Tsk.  I can't believe what some people will do to make a buck.

What are you basing that statement on nona?  To my knowledge very small white marks on the chest and small white marks on the toes have  always occurred, and many times disappear or almost disappear as the dog matures.  I don't see it happening any more or less frequently  than in the past, and am curious what research you have done that brought you to the  conclusion that this is happening with more frequency than in the past?

For myself, I don't see it happening any more frequently, but have not studied the subject.  My current schH male (dark sable)  has a small white mark on his chest.  My old Tiekerhook male (b & t blanket back) born 19 years ago had some white on his chest as well as his  toes which disappeared as he matured.  Both dogs with very dark pigment, incidently.  I don't recall on the dogs I had  previous to these two.

Asko  had lots of proginey that were a lighter washed out color.

I don't see that Bob.  He also had lots of darkly pigmented offspring, remember he is only half the equation.

Sue, as I was reading, I was thinking exactly the same thing and was surprised no others asked that question.  I didn't think that it was occurring with more frequency, it's always been there and, depending on the size and location, is acceptable according to the standard.  So, if someone turned down a pup just because of a white spot on the chest, they either aren't that serious about necessary drives and/or are not aware of the the fact that it's not even considered a fault.

For instance Bob, look at Asko's grandson, Caro vom Mörfelder Land (2006 BSP Champion and 2006 WUSV Champion).   This dog even has light eyes, but I believe if you look at his mother, Buffy, maybe the light eyes comes from her mother line?  I don't see a lot of light eyes in Asko progeny either, but of course, I could be wrong.  I guess if Asko threw a lot of light pigmented dogs, that's OK considering the aggression and work ethic he also threw when bred to the right bitches.

GSDtravels  I agree,  I guess it could be someone who is completely irrational and has a phobia about a small white spot, but more than likely it's someone who isn't all that serious about schutzhund in the first place.  On the other hand, I don't think nona has specified how big the white mark is on that particular pup.  Maybe she can post a picture?

Yes moons, as a matter of fact many times I change my posts after proof reading them in an effort to make my points  clearly and concisely, in as few words as possible.  In fact I have changed this one a few times too.  Now do you have anything to say that is germane to the topic or is this just you stopping by  to drop in a little bit  of  meaningless sarcasm?

Sueincc and GSDTravels, If you want specific dimensions on the size, I can not give that.....To post a pic, I can not do that either, because I do not own the pup that was being considered. I will not post pics of what is not mine!!!!!!!

This is a very "IN-GENERAL" question without giving exact dimensions of size.........  What I based the question on is, THE WHITE SPOT.....Not whether the person was serious about schutzhund....Please don't turn it into the person's knowledge of schutzhund.....It has nothing to do about knowledge, but only the WHITE SPOT......Seems there are many good opinions from knowledgeable posters who gave their answers on the actual topic of the thread......Is there a specific reason why everyone can't do that...... There are 17 replies and 15 had no problem understanding it.....Only you two had the same frame of mind and couldn't reply without addressing me with question.......Not surprising at all.

I hope this helps you two ladies and you can now understand what the rest of the poster already understood,  and they were able to reply......
