Oli, database? - Page 2

4pack, on my end for instance your avatar has a red x in it. For me this all started with Oli's intervention. It's only this website that is any different for me. Not my server, computer, or connection. Moons.

Memory usage?

Text, is nothing... very little....picture take quite a bunch...pic with sound
take even more a lot more. So if you are running a server that is handling
multiple videos   you may be pushing your servers request complition time.
I notice that other sites are even slower than here with video request. It may
just depend how many videos are link to your website. Graphics should not
be a big problem unless there are a zillon request coming in at once.
Not trying to step on this threat, just thinking out loud.

Oli is the DB being worked on right now?

The pages and pics are fine for me, but I can not start a new topic on the GSD side.  I'm waiting for Oli to straighten this place out, but I've been waiting a long time for that.

 Ok let's keep this thread on server issues.

I think I should create a separate "bashing" forum, which will be unavailable to non-logged in users.  so people can bash each other without the fear of the messages going into google or casual browsers seeing them.  Preferably an Opt-in forum.   So you need to accept the brutality.

 I've been doing a lot of changes with the database.   Trying to  make it faster globally.   Though mainly trying to speed up the west coast of the US.  This involved amongst other things moving to a newer and faster CDN. 

I didn't know that postings where unavailable in the gsd forum.  I will fix that now.  

What images are not showing?     and where are you approx located,  could be a problem with the CDN..

anyone else not seeing images?

But hopefully the site has been faster for you all.

Hey Oli!

Great idea to start a new forum for bashing alone.  You could call it the "Mosh Pit" or "Cage of Death" or something like that with a warning that you are entering at your own peril.  Yeah, I can see it now...and it isn't a pretty sight.  Still, it would be nice for people to contain their verbal brawls to a designated free-fire zone.

           If you are doing a bashing site, pick a hot topic to draw bashers.
You can get twice the advertisement space and separate the bashers
from the non bashers. But you will probably make more$$$$$ on the
the site that actually caters to bashers. It could be bigger than American Steel.

Bashing sites may become the thing of the future like UFC........

 The bashing forum was a joke,  perhaps I can select 5-8 users and make all their posts default to a  closed bashing forum.

But, is anyone else running into problems with not seeing any images???

Oli,  I am having no problems with the server aspect of seeing pictures and posts.  All seems well.   I have not tried to post to the GSD forum though.  Thanks for the improvements.

The other aspect?  Would work for me..........
