You are fine with what you have. Stop second guessing yourself and changing things. You have to stick to one thing that works for a while to see results or you're going to confuse your dog- and yourself!
I think you also worry the hell out of yourself, and your dog reads that, especially around people.

Well, I answered my own question this evening. While out in the yard working on our obedience, my daughter was video taping. She was wearing a new fluffy scarf...Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was to Prince. He noticed my daughter standing at a distance and took off running toward her like the big bad wolf. It took me by surprise because living on 10 acres surrounded by 100 acres of corn, you don't get much in the way of distractions. I had a hold of his lead, but he pulled me all over the yard before he would settle and realized it was my daughter....I had a needed reminder of the reason I bought the correction collar in the first place.....

I am not sure I made it clear in my post above, Prince was wearing his flat collar during this incident..

Ruger,
Could you please clarify something. Did you mean to say that your dog went off aggressively at your daughter?

FHTracker....Not at all....The purpose of my post was to suggest that the use of a correction collar could have brought this situation to a close much quicker....Prince has never showed aggression to anyone in our family.....

Simple: if you intend to give your dog leash corrections while training, have the appropriate collar for that.
If you do not intend to give leash corrections while training, it doesn't matter what collar you use. Or any collar at all.
I would ALWAYS have a flat collar on any dog, with ID on it. The shelters are full of dogs without collars and owners with excuses about why they don't want a collar on their dog. In20 years at a large shelter, never saw one dog die from having a collar on. But thousands sure died because they didn't have one on.
SOrry, off soap box now!
I sure wish I lived in 100 acres of corn! Sounds fun.
