Red Sable

Yes, I'd love to  hear how it goes.  I've been considering doing the same thing.  We have a show that comes here every year.  My dog does have a fair bit of angulation for a working line, so he may not fair to badly.

Good luck to you!

Charlotte Clem McGowan has been involved in dogs for oh, about 50 years, literally.  Shetland Sheepdogs are where she was most known for a very long time.  Her kennel name was (is?) Rorralore, and I know she has written a book about them.  I believe she is also very involved with dog legislation.

Back when I was showing AKC (LONG ago - CCM was still breeding & showing then) she was considered knowledgeable and was well-respected.  I'd say correct movement and a good, typey head would appeal to her.  I'd show under her.

Again, GOOD LUCK and MUCH SUCCESS!

I ended up entering 3 days worth of "Amateur-Owner-Handler" With my boy Haunter. Then for good measure of snikkers and head turning, I enterd my favorite girl Della for Bred-By-Exhibitor. She is neither a show stopper or workaholic but I love her just the same. I promise to keep their ears coverd should anyone get to snippy about them. I have thick skin so I am looking forward to a good time :) I will let you all know how it goes Aug 26-28.

Well day one was under Charlotte Clem McGowan. Haunter took a 2nd place ribbon out of 2 dogs in his class :) No surprises there. He was well mannerd and I was proud.

Then came my little angel Della. We were the only ones enterd in her class so I thought we had a pretty good shot at 1st place LOL. We paraded around the ring, showed our teeth and all. The judge then proceded to tell me this is not a very good shepherd. She is so bad she is not deserving of a win in any ring, to take her home and go buy a good German Shepherd. I informed her that this was more for me and I didnt think we would be going home with best in show anyhow. She then handed me a 2nd place ribbon and said it was because she did not want to see her in the ring again :(

Im still proud of both my babies and dispite one meanspirited person, I had a good time and the dogs had a good time too. I already knew my girl Della is not the greatest representation of the breed but no way in hell will anyone convince me she is not a good Shepherd! If all else fails, they do bite!

You were the only one and he gave you a 2nd place? OMG that is some moxie. He should have been grateful you showed up, or he'd have nothing to judge, no job! What a story!

Kudos to you for going in the ring with your dogs!  More then what a lot of people actually bother to get out and do.

That is super that you went!
I occasionally show my WL dogs in the AKC ring. Every time I think the judge will see my dog and realize what a German Shepherd can be..... but every time I leave thinking "never again!"

I checked out your website, and I think Della and Haunter are very nice looking if it makes any difference.

Wow great job AND great sportsmanship to you! I am so happy to hear that even tho the judge was less than professional, you kept your chin and attitude up!  What an experience! Good for you anyway!
Best wishes to you! :-)

The judges don't have to give out any placements at all if they so deem.
