Live in PA every pet shop you enter has pups but we're also not that far from Lancaster the puppymill capital. We get large/small breeds but the last 2 years of course alot of doodle type crosses claiming non-shedding etc. Went into one the other day all the pups had yellow water asked the manager why and he said it was Gatorade to help with electrolytes what BS its was an antiobiotic for Kennel Cough treatment!! I too would never buy any pet supplies from a store selling pups.

Are there no Dog Associations or Groups that can petition against this practice?
Do the 'customers' or Authorities who could bring about change, not consider the conditions and welfare of the dogs at the other end of the cute looking puppies??? .......... the female dogs living in horrible conditions, without anyone ensuring to maintain their right to live a good and healthy life, appropriate to their needs and requirements. Instead of churning out litters of puppies time and again.......

Our contention is not that their business is illegal, in fact I believe they have every right to sell puppies. The law does not, and should not, dictate morals. However, I have every right to protest them and educate consumers, telling everyone if they buy from puppy mills. You know, cigarettes are bad but does that mean it should be illegal to sell them? I am not a fan of legislation, I am a fan of educating people and really pressing to get the word out.
Also, we pressure the property management companies- They tried to open a store in Old Orchard Mall, so bombard the mall with emails/calls saying if they let them come in we will protest the mall... lease denied! They want to open in another town and the same thing, volunteers show up to the planning commision to voice opinion. We have already shut down a puppy store!! I wrote about these people online, and the Puppy Mill Group spread the word and protested, http://www.tailsinc.com/post/pawsh-puppies-supplied-by-puppy-mills-defaults-on-rent-closes
So what did he do, he opened a new chain of stores and just changed the name, they have opened about 6 blocks from my dog training business,

There will always be suckers to buy puppies, but with enough bad press, pressure, and education you CAN put some puppy stores out of business.

Dogs (like all those who rely on others for their welfare) are vulnerable. Their entire life depends on their Owners (or Carers). We can do something about our situation, animals cannot. How dreadful and appalling to be trapped and miserable!
Do local Governing Authorities support the plight of these animals? .... They probably would if they were able to vote!!
These 'Farms' everywhere need exposing!!!! Well done Doberdoodle for being part of something that educates to bring change.
