your Jack and my Rocky could be cousins!!!  Rocky has the same coloring, but he is smaller.

After two weeks on cephalexin, he started to not finish his food
( leaving it open to my bottomless- pit CKCS to inhale before I can get to it!)
Now he barely eats at all, I have to mix it with some wet food to get him to eat..

Dr said he could be getting a bit nauseaus from the Ceph, and to go ahead and take him off.. ( the skin issue is 99% healed)   - I am hoping that its just the meds... I JUST bought a HUGE bag of a very expensive food he has been loving for the last few months.... I hope he hasnt lost interest in this food.   I also dont want him to get into the habit that I am going to mix in wet food all the time... so sometimes I let him go alitte hungry he gets fed twice a day, I make sure he eats at least once
... And as per Drs Instructions, I stopped the Ceph this morning... so hopefully he will get his appetite back soon.

Jack's actually not very big, though he has been gaining weight this past year (I've only had him for a year). He's up to 75ish...haven't weighed him in a while. What lines does your Rocky come from?

Update: Jack punked out for a week and didn't eat much. Then, he got tired of being hungry and started eating like the ravenous hellhound he is at heart. Thank you for all of your suggestions! He greatly enjoyed the tripe :-)

I will not use Cephalexin in particular the brand Rilexine in the past it has caused stomach bleeds in a couple of my dogs, for skin issues I prefer Antirobe capsules more expensive but no side affects.

I don't know where you live but we have a local treat here in Wichita, Ks. called Bradley's Bones.  It was developed to tempt the appetite of a terminally ill GSD while she suffered from cancer.  These wonderful treats were the only thing she would eat.  I cannot say the words Bradley's Bones unless I intend to feed Echo one.  She will not rest until she receives it.  I can bribe her to do just about anything for one.  Maybe you could order some through one of their retailers.  It's a small company and the owner is overwhelmed with what she thought was going to be a hobby.  She is a wonderful woman whom I have met and enjoyed talking to at a dog fair.  I think you will think it was worth the trouble it may take you to track them down.  Check out the website and go to the link for ordering.

Ceph is really hard on the tummy, but one of the better drugs for skin infections.

Here is some thing that works for my dogs, get some Probiotics I usually use human stuff.  If you feed AM & PM, if you can then give the Probiotics around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.  The ABX have worked their way out of the gut and you can replace the good tummy flora.  If you give Probiotics and ABX at the same time you are knocking down the effectiveness of both, the ABX kills the Probioitcs in stead of working on the Skin Issue.

Thanks DebiSue, I'll take a look at those Bradley Bones...I KNOW my collie will love them. Jack mostly just wants to eat RMBs. He'll eat eggs, dairy, and the occasional hidden berry, but as numerous disappointed friends have discovered he refuses to eat kibble or cooked treats. Even when he wasn't on the raw diet, he wouldn't eat food given by strangers. This now applies to any kibble given by anyone, including me. I had some Wellness Core left over and wanted to see if he would eat it during training....nope.

WiscTiger, I did give yogurt after completing the drug but did not give a probiotic supplement. Is there a difference?

Partially bumping this to the top because I'm disgusted with the majority of the first page.
