If you are interested in Military  living or near  then El Paso is where you would look   or  Canyon Lake is not but  a few hours away.

CLose to all the military you want from New Mexico to  Texas.\

Interesting article sent from  A Dr. from El paso to me after I visited in El Paso in May.

Fire ants are enough to keep me up 'north".  The armadillos are already here though.

The fire ants are definitely no fun!

Generally speaking,
If you are a liberal, then Austin is your place, if you are a conservative then Dallas is better.

If you  like   cockroaches, rats,  salt water , MOSQUITOS,   hurricanes, humidity , then go to the   Galveston area or anywhere south of Houston.  Good seafood but

Up around Lake Fork , and East Texas the humidity is more level and the temperatures are moderate to hot but not so humid unless around the lakes.  Good Bass fishing and catfish for your own enjoyment.

The trees and hills are more enjoyable and higher elevation of your home and kennels is more easy to attain.

If you like cold the Northern parts of Texas  are dry and windy and cold in winter but not near like where you live.

The schools in the East Texas area are more to my liking as my grand kids are in them.  We live in what is called the BIBLE BELT  , no SP not the BIBLE THUMPING BELT...but more of the educators follow regular Constitutional forms of running the school systems without all the uproars.  There are private schools available but very costly.

Football in Texas is BIG...

Great info from everyone. Now I need to get down there and check it out. I hope that I can find an area thats dog friendly and will alllow me to still foster Neos since there are no reps in that state.

I havent rented in YEARS and forget that I have to be accepted so to speak when it comes to my dogs. I was looking online and saw one person who wanted a 4500.00 pet deposit. I am so looking for a change of pace I cant wait.

only aliens you'll find in DFW area are of the illegal variety, lol.

I would not move to either city if you do not like traffic, I HATE Dallas driving.  and the people ae nasty and rude,  will not stop and help if you break down.

been out here in the FW area all my life, and not seen any giant woms either, lol.

I would suggest the McKinney/Gainesville area.  closeenough to drive to the city, but far enough away to still be country.

I live in Azle, 22 miles west of Fort Worth.  decent place, growing though.  schools are excellent in North Texas.

I live right next to a huge ranch, so far in 28 years, no cattle mutilations, no blacks ops, no scary military men.  I used to work right next to the base in fort worth, and though loud, nothing out of the strange.

unless you want to consider the North Texas goatman, lol
