Some states put  band wolf hybrids ownership, there were many that were shipped to other states because they were to be put down.  With so many nice dogs out there why play with the genetics of this type. JMO

Adreya

The most wonderful bitch I ever owned was a coyote/GSD hybrid. It wasn't a planned breeding, but a GSD breeder I knew lived in a rural area and heard a commotion one night and found a coyote in the pen with a bitch in season. When the litter was born, she was going to euthanize the pups, but she'd fallen in love with a sable bitch that had latched onto her finger suckling it as she delivered her and offered the pup to me.

The bitch, Sadie, was everything I could've asked for. She was very protective and absolutely adored children and baby animals. Once after a big rain, she brought 3 half drowned skunk babies into the house. When I rescued a kitten, she'd lick him and let him try to nurse although of course she had no milk.

Her favorite thing in the world was chasing a ball or frisbee, and she'd dive to the bottom of the swimming pool to retrieve a ball. She was so beautiful and agile. She was amazing and I still miss her. I'm sure the OP feels the same about his wolf/GSD.

The pics and info about the CZWDs were great. What incredibly beautiful dogs they are.

Adreya sounds like a great coydog you had. CZWDs are great and am looking at getting one.Just researching the bloodlines first and going to find out all about them before I commit to it. I love German Shepherds and wolves so what better then to have a breed that is the created from both. Best of both worlds.

So does that make the CZWD a designer breed?
A new breed made by breeding two different pure bred animals together?

No the CZWD was an experiment at first then it became an actual breeding program with specifics in mine.More then I can say for some dog breeders. Most the "designer" breeds are just done for $$....they're a fad.Truly is there a real reason for a Chiyorkie?Or  Puggle? All the "designer" dogs i have seen have health problems. It isn't like they are getting rid of a problem they are adding to the problem. Even how they came up with the goldendoodle was pretty ridiculous.Someone wanted a service dog that didn't shed so they bred the poodle and golden.DUH they could have just used a poodle with no golden and it would have been a great service dog. It is to make $$ and the sad thing is people get them cause they are "cute" but they don't realise the health issues and temperaments that come with it that might not be so desired.Right now my friend has rescued some "designer dogs" from a puppy mill.Crazy lady that was breeding Yorkies with Chihuahuas.

Here is a great site to get more info on the CZWD

Makattackbobevans...(what a handle that is, BTW!) Your Wolf-dog sounds like a very gentle soul, & a wonderful companion. And it sounds like you love Bella very much. I hope you have a long, happy time together, & make a lot of good memories to hold in your heart. Everyone should have a very special companion to grow up with, a friend that will stay in your heart forever. A friend like that will be there to comfort you when things go wrong, & will be a standard for you to hold on to in life. I'm glad you have such a special companion in Bella. And thank you for sharing your reflections about her. They make me think of the animal friends that live in my heart & memory. jackie harris

Your wolf cross sounds like an amazing animal. You are the third person I know of who has had a really good experience with a wolf hybrid. That said, I would certainly be careful about advising others to get one.  I also know someone who had two of them and they couldn't go anywhere for 14 years because there was no one who could care for them if they went a way. The dogs were highly aggressive towards other people (not their owners) and not trainable either. I wish you all the very best with your very special and wonderful wolf/GSD cross.  Can we see pics?
