That's like saying should accelerant dogs be trained for accelerants. They sniff the gas, do they not? First hand experience with them and they live just as long and happy as any other individual in that breed.

It was put to me this way: Besides training, the dog's exposure is minimal.

I do not have first hand experience with mold dogs therefore can not comment but I have been told that mold dogs, for the most part, are a sham for the reasons Two Moons posted above.

People will pay for anything/services they think sounds like a good idea.

1 doggie- Yea I had to laugh at the whole thing. I guess there is a sucker born every minute. I don't know if the Dr said what kind of mold.  Also for this training place to just assume that her dog has what it takes to be a sniffer dog....they are full of it.I have been evaling dogs at the shelter for the SAR group here and I have gone through a few that would be good if they had the drive. One was a hound dog that was the laziest thing I have ever seen!! He would track to the coolest piece of shade he could find and lay down and not want to get up.lol Not quite the tracker. So to just think that without even seeing this lady's dog and say it could be trained to sniff out the molds.....I just can't believe she is going to spend $500 on this. If I didn't have the morals I do I could take the money from her and bs her that the dog can sniff out mold in 4 hrs. I just can't do that no matter how much $$ she were to pay.

LAVK-9, maybe if you give her a cupon for a discount, it might make you feel better.

Two  Moons, I know you are laughing at the bed bugs, it is no joke, going to cause me a lot of greif as time goes on! I have actually been toying with next time I have to get a pp, having him cross trained in them. I just can not see me bringing home a Beagle, no matter how much I keep tossing this in my mind.
