Adi, I switched all my dogs, including dozens of fosters, overnight. They all did great. It's switching BACK that causes all the trouble!
You're sure right about the yogurt. My dogs look significantly better on just a small dollop a day.

My current GSD was switched overnight at 9 weeks of age and I never had a problem. I've helped switch quite a few other dogs for friends...all overnight....all different ages (and breeds)....with zero problems. Perhaps some dogs have some difficulty adjusting, but it's not necessarily the norm.
As for the amount, my boy eats 3% of his weight daily and during summer months, I usually increase that. He is certainly not fat, nor is he gaining weight. Mind you, he is an extremely active dog.
I don't believe there are any hard and fast rules for raw feeeding as every dog is an individual, but I would ask the same questions as Sueincc. What are you feeding, how much etc.?

If you want to feed kibble and raw try separate feedings.
I feed Pharaoh checken legs or backs or quarters in the morning. Sometimes in the evening, I give him two cups of Taste of the Wild Wetlands with one cup of water (let it soak for a while). He is just fine on this.
Sometimes I give him excalibur mix from GreenTripe.com It comes frozen in one pound chubbs. I defrost a chubb and it makes one meal.
Of course, if your dog has Giardia or some other parasite, that needs to be taken care of. A simple fecal float will NOT diagnose Giardia.
"Search Messageboard" for Giardia and read. Google "Giardia Dogs" and read.
