I see a strong resemblance to his sire, but I like yours better. He just seems more masculine, I think. And no offense to the sire, but his eyes seem close together, or small....Maybe it's his coloring making it look that way? Anyway your boy is very handsome.

When the pic was first posted, I debated saying I thought Hero was more handsome, but didn't want to offent the sire's owner.

I also didn't want to offend, just making an observation and it is only my humble opinion, which doesn't count for much since I am still a novice to the breed :-)

Pakros is AWSOME and Hero cannot hold a candle to his father.
I do prefer Hero's expression, though don't like his huge ears and his eyes could be a hade or two darker.
Dogs are a whole bucket of "give and takes" anen't they!

As I mention often I am still new to these GSDs, so my opinion doesn't count for much, that said, I like Hero's ears lol...but you're boy is still young, he will still fill out more over the next year and maybe his ears won't seem so large...
looking again at the photo of him dam, he does resemble her a lot. She is a real beauty...

Oh yes, now that she is posted as well, he certainly favors his mama. All are nice looking but he certainly picked the best of both parents and out shines them both. Love his expression, color...just really nice looking boy.
