Im curious to know if the problems experienced were only in that area. What is it like on the West Coast? God I sure hope not. For all that money it would be better to go and get it personally. That way you could at least enjoy all the money your spending on the sites.

These affected parties must now use the services of a registered/licensed shipping/cargo/freight agent or broker. Such agents are easy-to-find, as there are usually a number of them near major airports.

As always, individuals flying with a dog into the US should check with their airline to confirm its policies on live animals as excess baggage.

Developed after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the TSA is responsible for the security of all systems of transportation in the US. The new directive is part of the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to secure all unaccompanied cargo coming into the US. TSA is part of the Department of Homeland Security.

the above comes from the link to the akc in an above post.

I fail to understand how paying  three hundred dollars to a broker that before you frantically call from the airport, did not know that the "cargo" was coming in before it arrived nor do they ever look at the "cargo" is going to make the US any more secure.  Sounds like just creating "jobs" for some people filling out a form that is self explanatory enough that you can fill it out yourself.  I have always thought the "you have to have a broker" deal was nothing but a big scam on the part of customs.  You still may have to find a last minute broker even if you ship via gradlyn.

wow my typing leaves a bit to be desired tonight, sorry about the two edits.

Gradlyn is the agent/broker.

Nope, depends on the customs agent you get at the airport.  Husband had a bitch shipped in via gradlyn and still had to get a stateside broker and pay the extra $300 to the broker and $70 to customs.

Wrong, should have asked for a supervisor.  That's the reason for shipping him that way, otherwise just deal with the original owner.

Used Gradlyn. They were great. Very well organized but needed Barthco to get the pup through Customs so that I had no hassles. I t was worth the $300 to me not to even deal with Customs. at the Phila Airport. Who knows. Maybe Customs would have been a breeze but I wasn't willing to take that chance. So I played the game and let Barthco do it. Yes, I think it is a big game played on suckers but they do it every day and this was probably my once in a lifetime to do this. They can make up the rules as they go along. I can't.
