Sitasmom- I  have worked in a vet hospital as a tech for many years, the dogs that we see the most bites from are the small lap dogs, dachshunds, chihuahua, toy poodles, etc. Our clinic is very active in "Dog bite prevention" month. You are very mistaken about this breed having the most bites, why don't you look it up online, I think you may be enlightened! Unfortunately people whose opinions parallel yours are the reason the media focuses on pits, dobies, gsd's etc. as being dangerous dogs. I was bitten in the face when I was 6 by my uncles military gsd, have a large scar over my lip, but I still own them. One experience isn't really enough reason to get on the "vicious dog" bandwagon.  Any dog can be aggressive depending on the enviroment it was raised in etc.  YOU said:    "I had a pit bull it bit my son in the face.......that pit pull was a killer........."  SERIOUSLY, HOW WAS THE DOG A KILLER???  Did the dog maul your son to "death"?  What was the circumstance of your son being bitten? The really sad and pitiful thing is that the GSD has such a ignorant, uneducated person such as yourself representing it. Very sad!

The CDC has never issued a report or press release naming "the types of dogs most likely to bite," nor has the CDC ever released a list of dogs they consider "highest risk."

From the CDC:

"There is currently no accurate way to identify the number of dogs of a particular breed, and consequently no measure to determine which breeds are more likely to bite or kill."

COPIED FROM THE CDC

They weren't all pitbulls though were they????? So are rotties "man killers" as well? What about the percentage of small dogs? Really, trying to get any info or advice through your head is like slamming ones head into a wall. I see you evade some questions and only answer what is "convenient" for you. I seem to remember "lurking" on this board a while back, weren't you the one who tied a 2x4 to their dog to keep it in the yard and then the dog was hit by a car?? And then if I remember correctly there was another that bit several of your friends and you had it put to sleep?? Yeah, I definitely remember those. You are the almighty "authority" and everything that comes out of your uneducated mouth is the "holy gospel". Got it.  Some states call that animal cruelty.

statistcs suck dont they?

Why are you only conveniently answering what is "convenient" for you???? If you look closely. there are several sites with dog bite stats, they are all different. So they really vary as to the individual studies. How about that 2x4???

by SitasMom on 17 September 2009 - 02:09

I had a pit that without provocation and without out any notice what so ever attacked my son...........nuff said!

that breed above all is not to be trusted.........

I don't care care what you say about your dog........the pit bull that I had is dead now........and good middens to him!

You can say what ever nice things you want about how wonder you pit happens to be........I say good for you, and keep close watch!

by mking on 17 September 2009 - 02:09

If you bother to read it clearly states that it is not completely accurate, and excludes some mixed breeds as well as service dogs etc.

by mking on 17 September 2009 - 02:09

Sitasmom- who are you referring to??? I don't own a pit. Never have, but I don't consider them "killers'. Still evading those questions huh?
