This is from the Shiloshepherd.org
"Do you remember a specific 'German Shepherd' you used to know as a child (or if you are under 40) one that your family or friends told you about? He was the dog with that super, almost human intelligence; that big family protector that was so very gentle with little children, yet would give his life for his master without question.
The dog that would walk you to the school bus, and then show up again exactly on time to wait for your return; the hero that everyone talked about; the one that seemed half human. His personality consisted of Lassie, Strongheart, and Rin Tin Tin all rolled into one.
Well, that dog is still here today, and he is called a SHILOH SHEPHERD™!"
this is from her web site...
Breeding Better Shepherds Since 1962
Dedicated to preserving the exceptional qualities of the
OLD STYLE German Shepherd Dogs
this is from her web site...
Please, she herself claims those dogs to be some sort of old style german shepherds .. I am sorry still NOT impressed with her
She screwed those up. I grew up with the OLD style GSD, they came from Germany were raised in Czech republic and RinTin Tin was a sable 75 pound dog.. People if you are so impressed so be, Stop USING GSD name on you web sides and stop making up stories that GSD were big! because that is a lie, you are bunch of liers. My grandfathers first GSD which he used was a 70 pound MALE. this was the WW2 I gues he was cheater by the breeders back in 42? Right? geez people... you are entertaining and so naive..

Pack -- since you are so disturbed with Tina Barber's "wording on her Website about the Old-Fashioned GSD" -- then NUMEROUS Breeders of GSD's should STOP stating that they are Breeders of WORKING Dogs -- they should be stating that they are Breeders of SPORTS Dogs -- you know, Schutzhund Dogs. Would that be more to your liking?

Subject: Request for assistance in placing my dog
Hi,
I have no idea if you would be willing to help me in this endeavor but it
is worth asking, because my dog deserves a great home. You have local
resources and contacts, and know how to screen people to be sure they are
good owners. I am not asking to surrender my dog to you- she will be mine
until I find her responsible people who would love to have her, but I don't
know what the best way to do that is.
Bisou is an ISSR Shiloh Shepherd and there is an ISSR rescue organization,
but it is national and I think a local placement is easier. Also, if it does
not work out she can come back to us easily. Maybe the national rescue will
be the route I have to go, but first I am putting myself out there to you. I
can drive her up to you to evaluate her if you have the time, I would even
be willing to pay a fee/donation for your time and help in finding the right
home.
I got Bisou on a co-ownership as I wanted to be really involved with the
breed and show and maybe some day be a breeder myself. Well, I am not cut
out for being a breeder but I do love the dogs. Bisou has excelled in the
ring, and also loves doing obedience- if she was an AKC breed I'd at least
have her her C.D. She does have her CGC. I think she is just a fabulous dog.
The negatives about her- since she had puppies (her one co-own litter) she
eats poop. She did it as a pup, too, but when I switched her to Royal Canin
for GSD's she stopped. Now I can find no solution besides scooping it as
soon as it's dropped. Also, she is super friendly to my guests and loves to
have people over, especially if she can get them to play tug or fetch with
her, but if I am not home she is very serious about protection. Whoever gets
her needs to understand that she needs to be in a secure place if they are
not home, not a back yard where someone could let themselves in uninvited.
She does not run away/escape/challenge fences. We only have a 4 ft fence
here on post and she does not even put her two feet up on it. Also she is a
dog that needs leadership- she is the kind for whom all the 'little things'
like respect at the door, etc. are important. She does not, for example,
listen to my softie mother worth a hoot, while she will respect the heck out
of my dad. She respects the heck out of my 10 year old daughter, too, who is
a very good little handler. As far as health Bisou will be 5 years old in
June, she has sound hips and heart and I do not know of any health problems.
She will overeat if allowed and get fat. Her healthy weight is 80-82 pounds,
any more and she loses her waist. I will spay her before placing her- she is
not spayed right now because if I cannot place her I will show her later
this summer- she only needs 2 points and she will have her Championship. She
needs regular exercise, she does great next to a bicycle or rollerblades.
She is good with kids (I have a 10 year old and a 1 year old) and good with
dogs, even little tiny ones, she is so sweet. No cats, though... At least
not until someone trains her not to go

Maggie,
I will say only one thing. INTEGRITY!
If I am novice person I do my reseach and take my time. I go and ask and I bug people untill I know or at least I have an idea. Maggie, we are not talking about work vs sport because back in a day it was the SAME thing. People made it a different standard by excusing teir dogs not having what it takes....it is peoples fault to do that. People give you what you demand! they will rename it and make sure that those dogs are sold for the same $$$.
I stay away from certain people. I know only few breeders who can deliver. I did my homework.. LOL
German Shepherd is Prada.. Firs DDR, then Czech, now people are reaching for West lines.. I sit back and laugh because the dogs will be exactly what you raise them to be...
It all takes a little more than just flashy advertisements and someones pretty web site. It takes a little more MAggie... and to me... lies on a web site is a turn off... But again I do my homework.....
