DH,

sorry dear, didn't see this post before.  my female is in the database.  Her sire and dam came from Al's dogs too.

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/496012.html

I also like his dog, Barny.  I've contacted him, but haven't gotten a response back yet.  Not sure if he is in Germany or not.

Brijett's ball drive is off the charts.  If she can't find her kong or a ball, she will litterally carry a 2x4x8 (full one) around the yard, and kill you with it trying to get you to play with her! LOL  Her tracking is exceptional.  Nose really dug deep into the ground.  And her temperment is exactly what I'm use to seeing in Germany.  My "ideal" for a shepherd!

What do you think a breeding like this will produce?  I'm thinking some really nice structure, temperment, and drives. :)

Hi ladywolf,

I have dogs with the Alk dog in their pedigree, and they are everything I've ever wanted in a GSD,

now all I have to do is get to training!

Tessie Von Ryan has Alk in her pedigree.

We drove over there and looked at their dogs.  They are working dogs, through and through.

As far as looks go, if it matters, most of Rackers pictures look like he has some really unusual coloring with different shades.  Those must be older pictures because he looks black now.  If you look closely you can see very slight color variations but from 5 feet away he's an all black dog.

Great looking dogs out there.  If your looking for a working line dog I don't think you could do any better.

I just saw this post too.  I bought a pup from from Al from the Racker and Mira Von Helstereg (deceased now) litter.  I initially bought him as a protection dog/family pet for my house.  I am a police officer and my wife is a parole officer and I have two small children.

Bosco developed quickly in training with extreme ball drives bordering on obsession, great intelligence and intensity.  I had some experience working with k-9's in the army and began training him to do building searches and tracking at 10 months.  He is now a year and half  and is about 3/4 through his Ohio Police K-9 Certification and will be working patrol as dual purpose dog (patrol/tracking/narcotics) with the Cambridge Police Department in Ohio.  He is also detached with with the s.w.a.t. team for tracking and building searches.

Bosco is basically a Racker Jr..  They are nearly identical in appearance with the only differance being a little bit of brown coloration  (probably from Mira).  He is very curious but really aloof.  He is the kind of dog that really doesn't want you to pet him too much and would rather have a ball instead.  He is really a good guy though with a playfull, carefree personality.  He has been really good with my 2 and 4 year old and is very protective.  He loves to swim and is very fast.  His best working dog quality is his tracking where he is outstanding.  He has just started hard surface tracking (concrete/asphalt) after conquering every vegatation track in class.  His bitework is solid and his obedience is pretty good.

I will try to post some pictures.   I have some pictures of him doing vehicle extractions on some badguys (decoys).

and yes Racker does look pretty black.  He is kind of short looking to me, with a big head and neck.  He seems to have the same personality as Bosco.  Most of the Lord line is known for tracking if I remember right.
