Either you like tracking or you don't...I fall into the I like category.

More importantly: either you can actually train a dog or you can't.  One of the most natural activities and abilities for the German Shepherd Dog from the day it is whelped  is tracking. That is how it finds food and its mother from the day it is born.  It is born with the ability to track.  Only you, its trainer, can screw that up. Only a swivel-hipped boob or some other training piker who is unwilling to put in the time to refine that inherent ability can mess that up. If your GSD can't track, look in the mirror tomorrow morning and that incompetent training boob looking back at you is the reason your dog can't or will not track.

Hey Richard Medlen, don't get so personal, i haven't screwed up my dogs tracking yet, just every other aspect of the sport that i try to teach. My OB is sad in all areas. But tracking, that has been the easy one, all i do is drop the leach and walk behind him :)

Not referring to you personally. It was intended to be a general statement about all trainers including me.

Please know that i was making my statement about it being personal in jest. Your points where exactly dead on spot correct when it comes to my training. The more i "think" i need to teach my dog something, the more conflict arises in our training. But when i sit back and decide to be team mate and really get in sync with my pup, things go much better.
