Dog1, Thank you for pointing out some very questionable expenses. As you said some had nothing to do with the WUSV, that's a problem. But was it done w/o GSDCA knowledge or was he told to take it from the WUSV budget. I don't know? But it does not look right. If the helper expense was for medical reimbursement for an injury received while trying out, okay. If the money was for just showing up, fishy. What were the helpers told that were trying out? Try out travel and expenses covered by the WDA. What was the budget for the helpers? Is it customary to pay fot he expenses of helpers that are trying out? What I'm trying to say is, there is a blue print on how these types of events are or should be done. Each region of our country will have a different set of unforseen expenses. Apparently there was no system of checks and balances for expenses. Damn near every expense should have a receipt for the expenditure. Its almost as if the GSDCA said whatever when it came to running the event. Which is quite telling. You can't be hands off with this type of money. Then when things don't go well ask what happened.  This whole situation is just sad. Once again adults behaving badly to advance  individual agendas. The membership always pays for the mistakes made by leadership.

Kyle,

You're right it's sad and I'll throw in embassassing. This type of exposure taints the whole GSD community.

I think we can analyze the helper situation from a distance. If the WDA knew what they were doing, there would have been enough money to cover it in the budget. That's pretty simple and should be a given as the WDA 'experts' should know what it costs to get the helpers selected. If they knew what they were doing and had the appropriate amount budgeted for it, there wouldn't be an additional expense. Why is there an additional expense? That needs to be questioned as it clearly should be a budgeted item. At this point you just have to ask; why the extra money? Maybe there's a good reason. Never will know until the details are looked at.

Could it be there way a tryout, helpers selected but the video wasn't satisfactory to the WUSV and they had to do another,,,,incurring more costs? Don't know. The same acid test could be applied to all the items. The WDA just needs to give the GSDCA what it needs to consider and give them a chance to review it before they go the legal route.
