Sorry for the ones you lost, but still a nice sized litter. Maybe next time if you breed her again, do only 1 breeding for less pups??

CMills, I am afraid to tell you that was 1 mating done 2 days past ovulation
I have an excellent stud owner/master she has great dogs and a wonderful tecnique
12 is my bigest litter ever. 7 puppies is just perfect, didn't need 12 OMG no.
I mainly felt so sad for my girl, she didn't need to go through that much pain, I cried for her during those 4 very difficult births
She was so tired and just didn't have the strength to push out the last one he was 820gms I had to reach in and hold onto his feet until she could push him out.

7 will be easier and they'll all get a better share of her. Sad about the
losses though. No wonder she looks exhausted. Well done to both
of you; sounds like that was a heart-breaking last couple of hours
(or longer ?). But the 7 look great. Very best of luck with them, hope
they'll do you proud.

Curious question.... How long was the total labor? Rose's seemed extremely long for her 9 (18 hours).
by dogshome9 on 21 November 2012 - 23:11
Fawndallas her labour started at 11.0am and ended at 12.15 am next day so 13 hours, it was so drawn out, poor girl was exhausted.
First 5 were all delivered in exactly 2 hours, that was when my OH looked in on us and said how well everything was going, he spoke to soon!!!
I always tell him to stay right out of the whelping area, he is such a jinx.

Congrats on your very nice litter -- the first bitch i bred was a 'big" girl and her first litter was 13 pups -- 12 were born alive -- last one not.
Second litter was 12 - 11 survived..
Third litter was 11 -- all survived -- see --they're getting smaller -- tee hee --
last litter -- 16 -- but only 11 born alive - vet said uterus was way too stretched to get them out in good order -- still breathing.
so it was one live one - followed by a dead one -- then another live one followed by a dead one. it was just too many puppies !! they were big to huge --- all of them -- smallest one 15 oz -- largest 22 oz. but 11 was certainly plenty enough.
hope you don't dwell on the unfortunate losses too much --- you can enjoy the ones you have -- and mom will have an easier time taking care of them too !!
looking forward to pics as the little slugs grow up !! ENOY !
