Dawulf, if she's going at her sutures, get an old T-shirt that's long enough to reach just ahead of her hips, and put that on her; it usually helps keep them off the incision line.  Keep a close eye on it, too--if it looks 'angry' [very red, swelling], she may need to wear the dreaded 'cone' or similar type of device to prevent her from licking the area.  Did the vet send her home with, or is she already on, anything for pain relief (Rimadyl, Metacam, etc.)?

Should be easy enough to find the vet's info, if that's the only clinic in town.

SOOOOO happy that she's feeling better!

$150 is dirt cheap! Keep that vet's number on hand, for sure. GREAT JOB DAWULF!!! Jewel looks so pleased and I bet she is feeling tons better now.

Dawulf, believe it or not, I actually found three vets listed as practicing at three different addresses, all in Avoca...

However, this is the only *clinic* or hospital for which there's a listing, which one of the three vets practices at:

Avoca Veterinary Clinic/Gary Schultz, DVM
157 S Pine St, Avoca, IA 51521
(712) 343-2661

Is this Jewel's 'knight in surgical scrubs armor'?  The other two vets were a Dr. Fred Rock, and a Dr. Don Hansen, both in Avoca, but neither @ any clinic in Avoca.

How's 'our' girl today? [Yes, I feel like we've collectively co-opted her from your mom.]

Love my country Doc, it's about the animal, not about the $$$.  Great news and keep us posted on her recovery.  Congrats on following thru and getting the job done.  You ROCK.

Hexe - they have a cone on her, but now she's getting tricky and trying to get at it with her back paw. And she is on pain killers too.

Dr. Hoffman was his name... that is the address and number though to the clinic!
157 S Pine St, Avoca, IA 51521
(712) 343-2661

(I kept wanting to say Dr. Hofstadder, but that is the guy from the Big Bang Theory. Tongue Smile )

A big difference though from this, the night before I made this thread...

To this, the day she came home!

She pulled one of her stitches out and peed on the kitchen floor today, but that could be the stress/meds. "She doesn't need to wear a cone or shirt when they are home though, 'cause they watch her." Roll eyes Just can't win.

Dawulf, a little further digging around did bring up Dr. Jim Hoffman in association with the Avoca Veterinary Clinic, too (and it also mentioned that he received the Iowa Veterinary Association's Meritorious Service award for 2011), as well as Dr. Schultz; apparently Dr. Hoffman does a lot of swine work, which makes sense given it's Iowa.  Thumbs Up  [Love the Big Bang Theory, btw!]
This is a clinic whose info should most definitely be kept on file by any rescue group that has or may have activity within a reasonable travel distance to Avoca, IA, for sure!

Re: Jewel, yeah, it's a BIG, BIG difference between the pictures--she's even SMILING in the second and third one, despite being a bit sore!  Not too worried about a single external suture, though I wouldn't tell them  that or they'll take it as license to "watch" her even less than they do now.  Hard to say what the peeing could be, maybe just an accident because they didn't let her out often enough at that point, could be the meds.  One instance, not a big deal, repeated instances, something to have checked.

Definantly! I plan to use them for my critters in the future... my gas tank sure suffers though - LOL

She is always smiling.... love them 'Golden Smiles'!
