Ninja and everyone else who replied,

He's doing just fine. Can't say the same about the other mom, I had to finally tell her to stop saying she was sorry when she called this a.m.! It isn't like she bit my son. Here are the update photo's.  If we can avoid the Dr's. for the dog's sake so he doesn't get a police record, I'm okay with that. Dog has all shots up to date. Tetenus, is up to date for kid.

Hexe, what am I going to do with these two bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide I told my DH to pick up for us? LOL

I had him put a warm compress on the wound and see if any pus was wanting to make its way out. So far, it is not oozing, so maybe the hot tub didn't hurt him.

She's taking the bite seriously and says she does have a trainer so hopefully they will get to the bottom of this dog's behavior problem. They adopted a pair of these large "pups" while already owning another adult BMD and I wonder that the young pair are bonded to each other, and that our entry as a large group plus who knows what set that dog off!  I did notice his tail was slightly raised and an odd look to his eyes, but I didn't want to project negative energy so I just started chatting with the mom. I never even saw the dog go for my son, and I was ten feet away!

doesn't look like it is infected, sure got a good bruise out of it though.  Must of hit him with pretty good force.  I have been bitten many times,  to me its a case by case thing.  your a smart person so you had to take all factors into consideration, and he wasn't about to go see a doctor last night, so you probally did right.

The swelling has gone down, looks better today than yesterday Bee. Doesn't look infected to me either.

Looking good in the neighborhood. LOL

I think he is in good hands.

bee, you keep the peroxide on hand for when a dog eats something toxic and you need to make it vomit.  Also need it in copious amounts, along with baking soda and Dawn dish liquid, for when a pet gets skunked.  So it won't be a waste!

Tell Sonny boy that he really ought to stay out of the hot tub, though, as they are basically bacteria soup.  Regular chlorinated pool water, OTOH, actually beneficial and will help keep wound clean. :)

Raised arms and hands and loud voices can be perceived as threats by many canines.

My male shepherd "pinched" my sister a couple of years back-she speaks very loudly and waves her hands as she talks-he didn't like it.

It's a good bit of dirt to lord over your friend, if nothing else.

Geeeehosaphat, Jenni, I know you and beetree have a combative history with one another, but what kind of person thinks something like that?
That comment does little, save to tarnish you...

Or beetree, run to Tractor Supply or some
similar farm type store, and get a needle,
syringe and a bottle of Combiotic. Then tell
the boy to bear down on a pillow, and stab
him in the ass cheek. Probably 25cc in one
cheek, every 2 days for 14 days

Are you serious?
Where did you get your medical degree?
What happens if the kid happens to be allergic to penicillin and goes into anaphlactic shock?
Giving medical advise on an internet list is not only irresponsible it is probably illegal !
Dog bites that puncture the skin need to be treated by medical professionals

Psst, Thomas...it wuz a joke, dude.  Do you really think anyone would employ such a tactic on themselves, let alone their kid?

There's also a significant difference between giving first-aid advice and giving full scale medical advice, too.  The only actual info (as opposed to the joke) given to beetree was the former, not the latter.

by Dobermannman on 18 August 2012 - 01:08

NOPE  Telling someone to go to Tractor Supply and buy a vetrinary  medication and gives detailed instructions including doseage and administration site on a  HUMAN BEING MINOR isn't First AID.
It's practicing medicine without a license.
