Elementary school girls who can't grow up, comes to mind while reading this nonsense. It's akin to a day time soap for children.:-/

If the abuse button worked, that might be something.  I did hit it because I feel TOS number 5  and even the number 7 rule, has been violated by Betta against myself, for some unknown reason. Calling me names and baiting, yeah, those are the ones.

I already gave Thomas the last word, but now he needs it again, this time from LadyFrost. Oy vey.

I'd like to ask a legitimate question, I'm not commenting on whether the OP should or should not have reported the dog bite and taken her son to the hospital.

I'm not from the USA so am not totally familiar with the laws, but I do consider it is a sue happy country.

What I was wondering is, if, god forbid, that dog should attack and maim or kill a person down the road, could the OP be held in any way legally liable if a lawsuit were filed by the victim or the family of the victim if another attack did occur. The OP has shown on a public forum that they are aware of the dog bite laws, but have chosen to not report it, so I would be curious to know what anybody thinks about that.

Thanks

Good question, but I don't think so. Someone could try to sue me, IF it happened, but the reporting is for observation of rabies, only. It is the owner of the dog that would be more in trouble, because they now know they have a dog that bites, and IF that unfortunate event happened again, yes, this would be a record of it.

"IF that unfortunate event happened again, yes, this would be a record of it."

Do you or anyone else on the list really think your son was the first person that rescue dog has bitten?   I'll bet the reason the dog was turned in was biting and/or aggression issues.
Before anyone jumps to any conclusions. I'm not suggesting the dog in question should be PTS for biting. I"m saying the adopter should have been informed and should take what ever precautions necessary to see that it doesn't reoccur. Any "rescue" that does NOT disclose a prior bite history to an adopter should be sued.

A thread or post on the PDB is not a record. A police or Animal Control report is a record

Dobbie...here i have to agree with you about disclosure of history when adopting, but isn't it given that when adopting you should expect issues not necessarily biting but it comes with a high risk probability of it?...its like buyer be aware clause...

Lets say there was no known history of biting, otherwise i am sure bees son would have been forwarned....so for you or anyone else to know you have a problem you have to have it happen ....right? and than you deal with it, address it and prevented it from happening again...

You know you are on a pet website, or that posters are pet owners, when the fact that indiscriminate dog bites (ie children) are unreported.

Cuz, a bite Trained dog, doesn't bite a child, or pm pet owners
(called responsibility)

This site is open to ALL GSD/dog owners, be that pet, show, working etc. If you have a problem with one particular group feel free to pass on by and not continually insult them. mrdarcy (admin)
