Max, what do you have now, Malis?

MAINLYMAX

Two Swedish cocktail waitresses from Yakima.....

Ya their Mals....It is a cross on the best Dutch and German
on there mothers side which I would try to perpetuate.

If a judge says soft, he means not indifferent..
( the dog should be indifferent).
Soft, hard and sharp should  balance each other
out.

Too soft ...and the dog will not be indifferent to pressure.
Too hard .. and the dog will be stubborn and not train easily.
Too sharp.... and the dog will be to nervy and bite anything
for no reason.

But when they are in good proportions they give a stable but
serious dog...People like their dog with a little more of one
of these attributes for the work they intend to do.

Depending  if the dog is just a family watch dog, or a hard nose police dog that
can handle the streets. Is where the balance comes into play.

As long as my girls are my pets and family members, I prefer to keep their
dark side at a low point. Because it is easy to bring the fighting
drive out in them. I have them acclimated to the neighborhood,
and getting along with everybody. I will probably keep them there.
I do work them but very low key. They are wonderful to be around,
and I don't need any thing else right now.

My first Champion GSD, was 2 years before the JFK assassination.
Give you an Idea of my history.....Very good dog.

Hi Don, To your original question, off the top of my head and speaking only in generalities, since we have no clue how much of the dogs issues are genetic vs learned and how much either can be corrected:
 (disclaimer, disclaimer, disclaimer)

I prefer dog #1 if I had to choose one or the other, more points with this dog, more fun to train,  dog #2 can still be a great dog, more of a challenge to train, still fun, just not quite as much fun.

Of course this is why I'm probably  not getting another crap shoot puppy, my next dog will be between 1 - 2 years old, so I will know  exactly what he brings to the table, and he will have hips/elbows/back health clearances.....so I don't HAVE to wait to find out  I have  one or the other.

Max, can you post your dogs' pedigrees? I'm not a Malinois guy, but have been studying the breed and peds the last few years. Many of the people I train with have them. I wouldn't be against owning one, a good dog is a good dog. Might have a question for you on a few malinois.

Why certainly....

Their mother is SchH 3 and HD A... very good foundation stock.
This combo is very hard to find.

Father ...Clip vom Roten Falken

Mother... Victoria Perle de Tourbière

Their father is Fr Ring 3.....very serious dog

Off of Brian LOI 38415 ......and  Heva LOF 23417

Brian....One of the best progenitors of the breed IMO.
