Barbnjason,
We all do foolish things that are costly....Don't panic just yet......I would keep her and your male separated from the rest of your dogs.....Sounds kinda lame I know, because that doesn't help much now after the fact....Just keep the faith and the power of prayer is awesome....

.I wish you the best of luck, just keep the faith and trust that all will be ok...

what are the visible signs or symtoms of brucellosis? Any discharge without heat or just miscarriages in advanced pregnancy(ies)? I've seen a bitch lost 2 advanced pregnancies without any apperent problems, so i still wonder wonder if she's infected.

My Girl is 3yrs old, her first litter was born last January. The pups were all born dead. presumably due to one large male bieng first and took too long to birth. the vet was called but said too late to really know why as it was sat birth and vet was called monday. At the time it was not my dog.
Second breeding was just this November, took to vet for palpataiton at 4 weeks. Within two days, we saw a reddish, mucous on her back legs and tail and called vet right away. he said sounds like she losing the pups, should handle it herself and be finished in a few days, but we should test for brucellosis.
She didn't have much mess, much less than i expected and upon return to the vet was palpated again, with no pups remaining. We did a blood draw and sent out the test. he said it would be ten days or so before we hear back.
Im just trying to get opinions and possible other options or what if's.

There are many potential causes of this problem, including canine herpes, several viruses, genetic issues etc. Unfortunately, it sounds like now your only choice is to wait for the results of the blood test. It might have been worthwhile as well to test one of the aborted fetuses....and the vet should have suggested that if there is a place to get such testing done nearby.
