Well there are at least some people in the General Topic forum that don't have GSD.  I don't, never have and probably never will.  Not that I don't like the breed, but my favorite GSD's are the ones that remind me of Malinois, which isn't really correct for a GSD, according to my GSD friends LOL.  So it would make no sense for me to get one, instead I'd get another Malinois.   But that's why I read General Topic, and not the GSD side of the forum.

Unless it has been changed recently, if one goes to the other breed forums, one also sees "General Topics" and when clicked, it comes here.

I am a working dog person.  Doesn't mean I don't respect people who own dogs (not guardians but owners) just for companionship but my dogs work.  I occasionally look at the GSD side of the site just to mess with some of the GSD folk who think that ownership makes you an intelligent informed dog person.  I don't own any German Shepherds, doesn't mean I don't help people train them, I just don't own any.  My reasons are my own.  I don't try and project my breed onto others making it out to be something that it's not.  Rarely if ever do I tell someone to get a Malinois, it's not a breed for everyone.  I look at the GT Messageboard as exactly that GENERAL and not breed specific.  It gets kind of annoying when members "assume" that the whole world is interested in GSD only related topics.  Want to toot your horn????  Go blow it on the GSD ONLY Forum.

I agree.. we as a group should confront racism, sexism,
and anything that is meant as an attack on a person.
For someone's empowerment of a weak
personality flaw.....( you don't need moderators).

But when you moderate in such a fashion,...the members
are no longer themselves. But a drone version of a
a moderator. Things will dry up.

And Moderators become the abusers.

I am glad that there are MODERATORS that can see what is being POSTED.. and if need be, taken down and DELETED. It was getting way out of hand, and some people were abusing the Database. Hopefully.. this will be back to the way OLI created this Database!

Thank you .. to all the MODERATORS!

I think there are at least 5 GSD specific topics on the first page. Either people don't understand the GT purpose, or they this is all GSD because they are logged into the GSD breed page.

By moderating we hope to bring back healthy dog conversations and not all the politics, racism, sexism, trollism, bullyism and any other ism you can think of. You have not been here long enough to know the true state this board was in. When you go back and read all the years between 2007 and 2010 and  all the 100's of political threads/posts the site owner dumped in the past.  Then and only then will you be talking from true knowledge and not feelings/opinions.  It really is his call as the owner of the site. Buy it from him and do what you want with it.

I think by working together and not constantly bad mouthing the site owners decision to add moderators is the best approach on all sides.

Step back as a member and either accept it or move on and quit complaining.  It is either moderation or potentially no forums.  Site owners wishes. End of story.

GSD

Maybe the name should be changed from "general topic" to "all breeds forum"

Would this not clear up the whole issue?

The title would imply that its a "dog forum" and not a forum for life in general.

Dawn.

Oli put the database up,....and the users put in the pedigree's.
The members talked about the dogs,
The working dog people discussed training.
And the funny people made it a cool place to
go for a laugh and to see the latest on events.

It is the users not Oli, that make up PDB.....

A good business manager will hire the best people
he can find. And stay out of their way and let them
do what they do best.

Nobody likes fighting and belittling people, but moderators
can choke out the life of the forum and than you will
have to revive it and it may not happen.

It's kinda like a free market..too much regulation and
it will dry up.

Mainlymax since I tried the private approach with you and it did not work I am now directly addressing you. Read my above post and this one and step back and put yourself in the site owners shoes.

Members have already chocked the life out of this forum. Ask anyone who has been here for years. It was not moderators that drove people away it was classless/clueless members.

You really need to stop complaining about moderation and either move on or get used to it.

Regards,
GSD
