I'll second that Kyle. Kudos. Idiots on this board are dime a dozen ;-)

cheers

Maybe he created the video so it would be posted to the internet and he could read people's comments and laugh about them-that would be pretty funny-

Another reason for posting the original Video of Dusty on this thread was to shut up folks once and for all who have been chiming for years that Tiekerhook  Dog never stands on the podium. Dusty is an excellent example of Sport + Street Savvy dogs. What the Tiekerhook bloodlines is all about
The most balanced and well bred and trained dogs.

Kyle,

No offense the PDB has a few knowledgeable people and the rest are here either learning or trying to stop a dog from eating poopies. Time served here means fuck all. That food guarding can be done with a bone, a toy or anything a dog is possessive over. Email the guy and ask him Kyle or please explain to the rest of us what's happening. Your eight years of PDB experience should have this answered in no time.

The problem is that a little bit of knowledge is a very dangerous thing.  A 17 year old can get a drivers license.  But that does not mean they know how to change a tire, change the oil, know how a gas cumbustion engine works, or capable of navigating a perfomance car on a twisty road.  In my time on the database, sarcasm from folks with an obvious lack of depth in regards to training, has chased away the educated. We are LUCKY, that Mr. Hassing still leaves us a note on this database.  Once upon a time many BSP, LGA  and Meistershaft participants contributed to this database.  If you were an FNG you would ask why something was done a certain way instead of assuming you knew what was going on.  I have read your previous posts and you have yet to gleam the board with any great or knowledgable insight into training.  I don't need to contact Mr. Hassing because I am not concerned with his training methods nor do I question his abilities because his reputation speaks for itself.  Keep in mind when weight lifting you only check your max a couple of times a year.  All other training is support to increase that max.

Word on PPD training.  This is but one leg of the tripod the creator of this breed Max von Stephanitz used to evaluate the GSD. So if you intend on breeding you will have no tangible proof of the other phases.

when you looke at some episodes of cesar milan , you see this type of "fooddrive" in yorkies , shi tzu , crossbreeds and all others on 4 legs
only its not really about the food ,

can someone explain the benefits of this behaviour  , or where you can make use of it

Interesting that you bring up Von Stephanitz.
I am sure that he would be proud of that video!

As for my experience, I have been training dogs for many, many years, in competition in more recent years, but, I also co-founded a dog rescue many years ago. I have a much broader knowledge of all types of dogs and dog temperament, whether well-bred, horribly bred, stupidly bred, mistakes, and so on, than most people will ever encounter in their life of breeding only excellent stock purebred dogs. Breeding and dealing with purebred dogs only gives you a very narrow scope of a much larger world of dogs as a whole.

Your analogy of a 17 year old with a drivers license sounds like this to me. Any idiot can go and buy a couple of dogs and start breeding and call themslves a breeder. Look around they are all over this web site, all over the U.S., and all over the world. After doing it long enough (he has 19 pages of dogs listed here and god only knows how many more he has produced) you should be able to produce some nice dogs unless you are a complete idiot. I have nothing aginst Koos personally and agree he has bred some nice dogs, but, sorry, that is one of the stupidest videos I have ever seen and shows nothing about "food drive", and, I have enough knowledge to not need to call him about it.

Duke, what is contained in the video is a crappy way of selling puppies by someone who should know better than to post something like that on his web site.

OGBS, I know that ,
some people are very good at breeding dogs , others are masters in selling dogs

Where and when is Koos seminar in the US?

by Vikram on 16 December 2010 - 19:12

 Hi Kyle,

I feel there is partly the reason of a cultural blinder which inhibits people to see yonder.

I have dwelt a lot on this point and wonder at the Koos Hassing bashing and the love and hate relationship people have with the man. Its a lot to do with the Cultural blinder on the eyes of the spectators. And you know what, he is totally immune since he has always been a controversial phenomenon all his life because thats what separates a great breeder from also ran types

have  a pleasant day. Your post was well written

cheers
