I agree with a visit to the vet for this dog. I do have a funny story of this happening to me. Years ago when living in San Diego I adopted a young male German Shorthair from The Humane Society (about 18 months old). He bonded very quickly, was a great dog. We were at a group OB training and the trainer was speaking to the group (we were in a circle around him).  My boy looked around then lifted his leg and peed  on my leg! Obviously he was marking/claiming me; I was wearing shorts and it all ran down my leg into my sock and shoe-had to do the whole class with a soggy, urine soaked sock/shoe. Thank goodness no one was really watching me, we were all listening to our instructions.

I have seen an un neutered dog lift his leg on his owner, while we were chatting on the sidewalk.  I was horrified at the time.   Not sure why a neutered male would do that, although it is interesting he did it on the man.

I think sometimes it is the dog trying to send a message to the master.

.I have a friend whose toy poodle did not like her husband.

Every week or so , the poodle would make sure it went over to her  husbands black work shoes by the bed, and lift his  leg and pee right into his shoe...

Obviously trying to send a message.!!!

I have seen both cats & dogs send those kind of messages to their owners, usually into empty shoes....but the funniest, kind of touching story I can think of was when we picked up Wolf from the airport, (for those of you who know of the Wolf von der Haus Maul story, you'll know why it's a little sad), we received his crate at Philadelphia airport, right next to the end of the runways, where the departing planes turn around & do their engine checks....extremely noisy, kind of freaking me out-it felt like your eardrums would rupture- he came right out of the crate for me, & I took him across the car lane from the freight building to relieve himself, he looked up at me, like, 'Sorry about this, but....' & he lifted his leg & peed all over my leg! A fine Howdy-do! But, with that look, I knew what he was doing....he was telling me in no uncertain terms...'Look- you are my person & I gotta make sure I can find you again!' He went right to the vet, who made sure he was back to good health, & we never had that problem again! jackie harris

We have a neighbor who has two undisciplined female beagles that she allows to run loose whenever she is out in her front yard.  We had a friend sitting with us on our driveway with his two so-so disciplined mini-schnauzers on leash.  She came over to say hello having never met him.  Of course her two braying hounds charged the mini's and all hell broke loose.  When everyone calmed down and she had taken her beagles home she came back and sat down on our drive to continue to visit.  The male Mini immediately hiked his leg and peed all over her foot.  The mini's owner was horrified and the beagles mom was pissed but I laughed my butt off.  Guess he told her!
