HI wearesiamese,

we think you are a little bit wrong in your mind, dogs are bred by people for to live together with them, and in case that we like to stay in our home, we like that the dogs are arround us, they live in a rotation-system with us in the house.

It´s very romantic when the dogs are in wintertime arround you in your home, we profit and the dogs too.

We keep our dogs in a free household, means we have the dogs in Kennels, Runs, in our home and in the Garden.

May you had shocked the community, because these forum is a place for dogpeople and my stomach turns, when i read your hard and cold words, the dog belongs to outside.

For us it´s a must to live with our dogs inside too.

And you´re right not every gsd-puppy is a working-dog with high-drive, and we also sold dogs as a companion or only-family-dog, but for us it was important that the pup have a closed contact with his owner and it´s not only an outside-dog.

In respect to your mind

Isa and Andreas

obviously many of you  do not live in warmer climates where dogs do fine outside. I did send my last pup to a trainer who evaluated her as a poor nerved possible fear biter if I had not gotten her there when I did she ended up having hd after spending months in training and I was out a lot of money..The dog I have now also went to a trainer until i found out she had bad hips and brought her home.  I do not have the time or inclination to repeat every detail here for  petes sake so many of you will get the wrong impression..I wonder why so many dog lovers are cat haters...not true animal lovers imho and asjust as someone told me they woul dnever sell me a pup I would never sell  a cat or kitten to someone who had anyone in the house indifferent to cats...Maybe I will get some pirranhas and Oscar fish instead...

Yet... you can't see what's wrong?  You sent them to trainers... this should be your job, it's not about how much money you spend, more about the time you spend.  Had YOU trained them, had YOU spent the time with them, maybe they'd have felt inclined to protect YOU!  They're NOT cats... they are quite different... please read all the posts before you comment about cat haters etc... it's too silly!

Fish... sound like a good idea... really... how about a moat?

I am not asking for a protection trained dog but you read what you want to apparently.I simply need a dog that will actually alert me to someone coming up the driveway-my sisters toy poodle even does a better job of that when I visit them in california!!!!!

Why do you want a GSD then? If all you want is a dog that barks then go get one from the pound ??!! There are so many homeless dogs that will do what you want.

I cannot understand why you are putting youself through so much trouble to find a GSD. Are you confused?

Furthermore, why cannot you accept people with years of advice that keep telling you a GSD REQUIRES A LOT of training and does best when bonded closely to humans. They have an inbuilt desire to serve and be close to you. That means they are not meant to be outside 24/7. There are some breeds that are independent, self sufficient, a GSD is NOT one of them.

IMO, stop wasting our time and your time.

I had thought about a moat on my 10 acres, surrounding my house, and  getting some crocs I  am going to Australia and New Zealand  Feb and March and will visit  Australia Zoo as well as the Great Barrier reef,Perth,,Sydney and other places. May name one in Steve irwin's honor...My grandmother had a pet skunk.i  have half a mind to get some skunks as pups, remove their scent glands and let them wander my 10 acres-now THAT would be a deterrent Or crows even as they are supposed to be a tad nasty???  :P~~~

when I first got a GSD I was told they were indeendent and would not need a lot of time and attention and would do fine outside this was from a Wisconsin breeder you all would know...I am listening to you  all and I will not be getting another shepherd unless  I canone find an honest breeder(I do not believe there are any at this point so not to worry you wont be called) or 2.find an older pair of buddies that need a home and would keep each other company whenI am unavailable..

To the previous poster,I am only wasting your time because you don't agree with me and for some reason  you feel the need to continue posting for some odd reason.

Misbeeb is right.

YOU should be bloody training your own dog, not sending them away.

A person that cannot train their own dog has no bloody business wanting to own a GSD.

You think a dog is a cat? Go **** yourself.

Yes perfect, you've located the perfect pet for you that will surely be able to live with your cats...an Oscar fish or pirrabha is IDEAL!  Unfortunately I do not have any breeder contacts for either but I'm sure you will find the perfect fish.

Just for the sake of posting; a MILDLY dysplastic dog can very much still make a nice "pet" and live a perfectly happy life with minor accomodations.  If I were buying a dog strictly for pet and it was MILDLY HD, yes I may be pissed off at the breeder but by then I would have bonded with the dog and chalked up the loss still giving the dog the same loving home I intended.  Now as far as a dog being nasty with the kids well that's where I draw my line because that is an ABSOLUTE MUST that my dogs all my dogs are absolutley respectful with the kids and KNOW their place. That being said they are DOGS not humans and it comes to me to make certain I set the rules, I put in the time and train not just the dogs but also the kids in how to properly repsect one another and their space. It's really not rocket science.

Nice classy  way to get customers caca mouth Bancroft  sheesh LOL How about treating people as well as your dogs?  No dog is ever going to be as important as a human being to me, sorry, If I see a child getting abused at the same time as  a dog, I am saving the child,.You all need to treat people  at least as well as  your animals .No one who visits this website would get a GSD based on the bickering and pettiness that yeveryone should be ashamed of in here

by Bancroft on 03 January 2009 - 22:01

Good, I hope you leave us, and give up the idea of owning a GSD, actually any dog for that matter.

One less nut who is going to screw up another GSD due to idiocy.

I call it like i see it.

I would be ashamed if I'd treated ANY of my dogs the way you have!

Nobody has mentioned hating cats or humans... why do you keep mentioning it?

Good luck with your fish!
