DoubleX,

If someone changed anything on the pedigree you posted on the site, it would show up under "History of Changes."    The screen name of the person who made the change and the date would  be right there.    This has come up previously.

Thanks for setting me straight on the parvo virus info. I have obviously been laboring under some serious misconceptions for a long time! :-O

Obvious....because people, good people, people who did their homework got screwed by this person/kennel. It is not an isolated instance. And it therefore deserves to be seen over and over and over.

if its not isolated that means hes definitely a you no what!

Insiders perspective... Former employee and respected veterinary professional, hired as kennel manager to implement measures for communicable disease control and to reduce puppy mortality (death).

I seperated from the company over disagreement with Wayne Curry regarding treatment and isolation recommendations for puppies infected with parvo virus. (TESTED POSITIVE WITH PARVO SNAP TEST) Hospitalization was declined and I was ordered to provide on-site  treatment despite the increased mortality rate for the virus without aggressive treatment. The virus moved swiftly killing the first puppy within 24 hours of the first symptoms (decreased energy and diminished appetite). Wayne was also very angry with me for my efforts at educating him regarding the diseases affecting his dogs and for requesting that he and the operations manager also abide by sanitation guidelines designed to reduce the spread of communicable diseases which he largely ignored. My only intent was to help him help his dogs and. I was deeply concerned for the welfare of all puppies currently on the premise (more than 40) as well as the litters still in-utero (many).

There were many other medical conditions not recieving veterinary attention ranging from skin/ear conditions to chronic diarrhea as well as orthopedic conditions (chronic or intermittent lameness). Reports to upper- management/ownership go without response.

With regards to his "puppy training" program, it is a joke. The so called "expert" trainers have no credentials, thier only preparation is... here are Waynes training DVDs, watch and go train puppies. Multiple employees have asked Wayne directly for assistance with preparing them to train his puppies without any results.  The puppies almost never actually enter a house, there is no crate training exposure (unless you count the time the puppy spends in its crate for shipment.)  Each puppy recieves apx 15 minutes training 4-5 days per week. For this you pay an extra $1000 for a month of training. You be the judge as to the value here. It is no wonder people have recieved dogs that did not meet their expectations.

There will always be people that had a positive experience from Kraftwerk. You can't sell literally hundreds of dogs and not make at least a few people happy :-) Considering the volume he sells, I think it a bit suspicious that there are not more happy new owners posted on the testimonials page.

For anyone interested in contacting me directly for more specific information, zip me an e-mail. I would be happy to share my horrible experience with Kraftwerk k-9.

Teresa,

Thank you for your post.  I only wish it had been available when I did a search before buying from him three years ago.  It would have saved us a great deal of heartache and a large sum of money before having to put our beloved Xanto down.

The Internet and a slick website can be a good thing to get the message out about a great kennel and a responsible owner.,  It can also be the means to increase the pool of suckers for a disreputable one.

As an update, thanks to hodie's kindness and generosity, we now have one of Xanto's half-brothers as a member of our family.  He was so worth the road trip!  And my faith in the GSD community has been restored.  Not everyone is like Wayne Curry,

OMIGOD!!

Teresa,

You were there HOW LONG?  I notice that you only joined this forum today.   I don't dispute what you say--how could I?  (I  rarely set foot on the place and haven't been there since the regionals last June.)  And, thank you for alerting people to what may be a very serious issue.

What I wonder, though, is WHY you come on this forum, now, rather than a couple of months ago, when this issue was first raised?

Interesting, and believeable IMO. How many dogs/pups do you estimate pass through that kennel in a year? I suspect that Kraftwerk is easily the largest mass-producer/importer/seller of working line dogs in the country, maybe even on the planet. Its a shame. It looks like he has some nice dogs in his program. But as I have said so many times before: When a kennel gets too big, personal attention. love and care go right out the window in favor of money and "fame."

I have, and have had some darned good help over the years, BUT... No matter how dedicated, knowledgeable and trustworthy my help may be, Nobody loves or cares for MY dogs, like ME. I will never have more dogs than I can oversee and interact with myself. Not fair to anyone to do otherwise, least of all the dogs themselves.

It breaks my heart to note all the huge commercial interests in this business, spending a fortune advertising unloved dogs, housed in beautifully manicured facilities (that White Fence thing again...) and obviously plenty of people so impressed by the big name and beautiful place that, as long as the dogs "look" okay (fed, clean) don't think any farther than that about the "care" they have received (or not) during their [often long-term] tenure at that fancy kennel.

How the hell can anyone justify $1,000. a month for 15 min. a day of "puppy training?" I don't charge  much more than that for 3 phases of SchH training and show conditioning these days!

Hey... maybe instead of properly feeding and providing heartworm/flea-tick prevention, spending time with them outside the kennels, etc. for my dogs this summer, I'll invest my time and money in some pretty white fences and a custom made wrought-iron gate, (with a dog and my initials on it) professional landscaping, full color advertising in national magazines, and a fancy reception area to impress visitors, so I can charge 2-5x what the dogs are worth to people who think those things are important?! As long as I make plenty of $, who cares about the psyche of the dogs, right?
