Bok

by Bok on 26 December 2008 - 15:12

Flame is a bit more vocal now. We didn't hear her voice for the first two days. At night I leave the crate open, so she would go out and pee on the training pad. Last night she managed to come to our bedroom and peed on the floor. I took her twice to the backyard; once at 2:00 am, and at 3:30 am. She didn't want to sleep and wanted to fight with me. Today, I will be more strict; she'll be either in the backyard playing, or in her crate. I'm also not going to let her take a nap after her last meal at 6:00 pm, so she'd sleep better at night.

Hi Bok,

yes sometimes after a couple of days they can be more "active"

One thing I noticed too, is that once she's in the crate more, you will probably want to take most of the bedding out.  As she might get into shredding it at this point in the game...

We also always went straight to the crate and skipped all that newspaper, training pad thing. It seems best to just get through a couple nights of whinning in the crate til they get used to it rather than when they are a little older and REALLY don't like the transition. I think the pads just prolong the housebreaking process.

That is a great looking puppy you have.  I know everyone has their own ways of house breaking and we learned that crate training shortens the time greatly.  Also, I know this is a pain but if you take the dog outside every 2 or 3 hours even at night and when you see them sniffing around, after a few days the puppy learns where to go.
