Wild how can somone who has only bred since 1998 have the ability to make that claim about her cutomers? and her olddog you didnt consider that a direct ad to solicit business on the messages? I had wondered if the kennles that have been under microscope were all pals.

I've not heard of too many GSD's living much past 12 years of age, making it to 16 and 18 it really wonderful. That can be said about more large breed dogs I think. My first GSD only lived to be 7 1/2, I'm hoping for a lot more years with Blitz.

I think a dog is eligible for the the GSDCA 13 club when he turns 12, isn't he? That's such a nice idea. I've read the editor of "The Review" pleading with those who place memorials in that magazine to list the causes of death, but I've yet to read one ad that says why a dog has died. The only source for causes of death in this breed, as far as I know, is Marj Zimmerman's Heaven's Gait on the internet.

lala I am sorry for your loss it is hard to loose that dog that is your heart carrying out what you want only as you youself realized you were going to ask it of her. My husband had a shepherd/collie mix that lived to 18 only passing after a "well vet check and vacinations" she died the night after her shots in her sleep after never having shown illness. I have never seen a pure gsd live this long I am sure it may happen here and there but I am equally sure it is a rarity.
