Back from my travels, speaking to few, who all agreed it was a great success overall, looking through this thread are some posters questioning the integrity of the judges! because it doesnt matter who organisers it or who stays with who the judge picks the places as i understand

Carol

I totally agree these girls I mentioned have nothing to prove - (someone asked Fiona why no Babette.... Poor Babs! She too has nothing to prove, and lets not forget the poor girl is careering towards veteran) but what I really would have liked would have been an open class showing off the 'big gun' girls in the UK - and competeing for VA status. (Lucky souls like Xambi and Demi of course been there, done that) but a few of our top girls competing would have helped Making the first british sieger with VA status just that bit extra special.

We could probably natter all day about the days when 5 or 6 males and 8 or 10 females could have been the judges choice for CCs too... I remember open classes with 3,4,5 quality champions in them...   Chris, Pirol, Mahdi....   Catja, Dixie, Tisn't, Nacale, Mica, Wham.... and later Xera, Enya, Tamil... always stiff competition.

I love our breed and enjoy our shows - but sometimes it disappoints me so much that the depth of quality has gone over the years.  In the late 80s early 90s even the top breeders, and the top handlers!!! could take a second place with good grace knowing the dog in front was a good one AND places could change week on week.

Anyway... sure Im heading off the point entirely...

I just enjoy watching good dogs!  Hopefully some of these titans will clash before they get too long in the tooth... and may the younsters develop into the titans of next year and provide us with juicy thrilling shows again!

VA Status is reserved only for titled dogs doing the work at the event thats the WUSV rule, if an animal is not titled it cannont nor should it be made excellent select for breeding, we are supposed to be talking about working dogs here not circle runners

Unfortunately i could not make the seiger show, what was the courage test like ,any entries stand out as very good

reason...   circle runners???

not sure who your post is aimed at, but to clarify my first post...

re the WORKING females class... I amn fully aware of the WUSV regulations, and the requirements for the grading VA, and for the korung in Germany.

the females I mentioned are all titled and should have been quite capable of trying for top status at the event.

DEMI SANTAMAR, ANTILLI XAMBI, BRENDA WEINBACHER LAND (apology for iffy spelling) and to my knowledge from Gayville... Italia, Bara, Varina all titled, from Conbhairean Ch Leska, Linzi, Kiara and Erin all titled, and from Tramella several females too - however some are still under two years so perhaps would not appear in the class mentioned.

There are doubless others, I was merely saying I would have liked more females of high quality - befitting what we have in britain at present.

If by your post you are implying that my mentioning the past champions, was a list of 'circle runners' - well... times change and now we look to Sch, but lets not assume these talented animals were not capable and therefore in some way not as good as the 'working dogs' genre you refer to.

You are preaching to the converted after all.

Regards

Jo.

A great show, and well run through out the day, just a shame about the weather! Friday for the protection work practice sessions was a lovely sunny day with a nice atmosphere everyone rallying round and helping each other out on what is a very nerve racking time, for those who have worked a dog will know all about these feelings!! Sickly feelings, Nerves in the stomach, and much more i think of but not for the board!!

The helpers were absolutely brilliant, Tim Lawrance and Ian James are a credit to the sport of shutzhund. So helpfull and encouraging and wanted everyone to do well. SUPER GUYS......

The hotel accomadation was well worth £45 and with a breakfast to die for, really good fun on the nights too, with many friend from all over the EU lots of laughing and crying to go with the laughing, such an enjoyable weekend and one i will remember for a life time.

Poor James from the Antilli Kennel was well up for a good laugh with Garry baiting him all night, brilliant fun they had us in tears all weekend

And David from the CONBHAIREAN Kennel in Scotland were do you put that food!!!

Also well done to everyone who had taken part, to all those who were lucky enough to take the top awards, and everyone who just came along to support the show, and maybe next year the show will draw a bigger entry for the working class, which would be super to see some really top dogs doing there protection work and entertaining everyone.

Also not for getting the support of Lin & Jo for the photos of the event, GOOD on you Girls

thanks Jackie

Huge congrats to all the VA's and winners and to everyone that took part :) it was a really good weekend and good show despite the terrible weather .. The atmosphere was great considering the cold!  Definitely good fun as always and I'll certainly be taking away some good memories again.. ( even though I did flake out by 8 oclock on saturday night!!!!)

I have to thank Jo (JOZOLLI) for not only taking the photos she  equired but for helping me too and for taking loads for me to use .  Hopefully we can work together every year for maximum event coverage(if I ever get my bl**dy camera sorted eh! )

Now that the weekend is over I am now really looking forward to getting the UK's sieger book out  now with Jo's photos involved ..

A little note :)  I will emailing many of the exhibitors we never had a chance to photograph for stance fotos in the next week. The more photos recording dogs judged included in the book the better :)

lin :)

We enjoyed the British Sieger apart from the weather lol!!!

I Should not need to explain why our females were not there but am going to ITALIA is 8 yrs old and is Germany  and currently nursing a litter to Kwantum Klostermoor, and Varina has also been mated and is being collected this week, as for Bara anyone at the show will know i put Bara in and unfortunatley did not pass right at the end wish i was totally gutted about after all the hard training but this can happen to anyone on the day.

I would just like to Congratulate all the class winners and so proud of our Baby Asia winning the 12-18 month class.

I am sure Gayville will have another strong team next year like previous years.

Hey Sam,

You are right to say you dont need to explain why the females weren't there.

I didnt ask why either - I was simply saying there are better females in the UK than the working class suggested AND that we have talented animals who can work effectively and not just 'run in circles'.

Gayville has little to explain nor prove!  And Asia surely made your day after a rotten morning - but again, you are right - it can happen to anyone and invariably soME of the very best fall each year at the BSZS.

Reason appears not to have come back with anything so I assume we are all clear and happy now.

(and anyway - my mentioning Dixie always makes your nan smile - lol)
