BRADY BEE

by BRADY BEE on 16 July 2008 - 16:07

WELL DONE FOR USING YOUR BIKE. I HAVE USED MINE EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST THIRTY ODD YEARS. I AM VERY GREEN MINDED. WHAT EXACTLY DO THE MODERN DAY WORKING LINES GIVE US??????  CHANGE/PROGRESS - MUCH THE SAME REALLY. WHETHER WE THINK IT IS IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION IS A MATTER OF OPINION. WE ALL SEE THROUGH DIFFERENT EYES. I PREFER GERMAN SHOWLINES. THAT IS MY CHOICE.  IT WOULD BE VERY BORING IF WE ALL LIKED THE SAME THING. VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE AFTERALL!!

THERE ARE PEOPLE ON HERE WHO ARE SO BLINKERED AND GET SO WORKED UP AND ANNOYED BECAUSE NOT EVERONE THINKS WORKING LINES ARE THE BE ALL AND END ALL.

ALL THEY DO IS BASH THE SHOW LINES, THEY ARE EITHER PARANOID OR VERY INSECURE. SAD REALLY BECAUSE ALL THAT ANGST AND ANGER MUST TRANSFER TO THEIR POOR DOGS LOL

I love this! People are always quoting the Capt.

Look at the dogs the Capt was breeding. They were Mals! You say the breed evolves. Well the way I see it is the Capt was breeding Mal like dogs in his time. If you look at the first pic and z-dogs pic (I love that dog) That is what the Capt. was breeding, so that must be what he liked and wanted. Make you think.....

Emily (I believe that is you name GSD Rebel) Good for you. I love it. Young people who are questioning things, devolping own ideas, and not taking what others say as gospel. You keep it up. Keep questioning and learning. You will be a better trainer for it.

I think this kid is going to go places.

change and progress aren't the same, progress implies an improvement, moving forward, change is just change, for better or worse.

on a whole i'd say the conformation of showlines has gone beyond progress to the point of detriment to the breed.  Too big, too slow, not enough athleticism etc.

what do modern day working lines give us??? I know my experience has been one with fine working animals, athletic, fast, stable temp, strong, intense, able to work thru most anything in all sorts of conditions.  I've met plenty of showline dogs i've liked, but overall the differences aren't that hard to see.

I I like my girls topline, although the standard does call for a gentle slope. What I hate about modern show dogs is  the acceptance of cow hocks and east west feet as normal. Also, I like a solid head, but big blocky rottie like heads and 90 degree stops don't look shepherd like to me. I think my girl looks like the older dogs, and so does  V Fenga vom Kirschental.

KKl 1 HGH and grand daughter o Bernd vom Lierberg, mother to Uwe vom Kirschental, BSP producer and participant, out of a kennel that now produces showline herding dogs.

Aside from this, does nyone know if Kirschental dog go back to Uwe an Fenga now-a-days, or did they abandon that line?

hey the first dog looks exactly like my 12 year old Mali taht still acts like he is two.old shep did look like mals but today i think Fenga should be the standard for german shepherd breed not what idiot judges tell you.i mean look at Fenga and i have heard she could work all day. u can not get better than that.have a nice one.
