Windy and RR.

As a person who has a 66 lb female that can brake out of a Brand New VeriKennel you need to do some Extra work to keep the bitch in the Crate.

Assemble the crate, get a drill, drill holes in between the existing bolt and cap thing.  Get some Heavy Duty Zip Lock Ties and Zip Lick the new holes.  Now for the door you need to drill some holes and tread Zip lock through the new holes and the Crate door.  Sky Kennel has a 4 point locking system and a heavier door than the VeriKennels.

You might also want to look at putting a bandanna on her that has some ComfortZone sprayed on it or give her some Rescue Remedy.

Shipping a dog tranquilized is absolutely NOT allowed by all airline and Federal regulations. Furthermore, it is a really stupid thing to do for a variety of reasons, all of which could possibly result in harm to the dog. There are a multitude of methods to secure a dog in a crate. Use some sense.....

Common sense seems to be in very short supply.

Your right hodie.

I've used WiscTiger's method and it works very well.  I'll do it with dogs (or cats) that I've not shipped before and have no idea how they will react.

maybe this is a stupid question, but what about a muzzle?  surely airlines will allow a muzzle.  the wire basket kind will allow a dog to drink.  i don't know, ofcourse, i've never had a crate  fighter.  i just got home from work and had to check on the latest in this saga.  very disturbing.  i sincerely hope for the best......for all.

Good suggestion!

With this type of situation, the dog uses her whole body to get out.  In todays instance, she simply bent the door to the point that it would no longer fit in the slots plus, the fasteners of the kennel were the slip and twist kind so with enough scapping with her front paws, she just vibrated them to a point that they wiggled out.

There have been some really good suggestions and I'll bet that if we use several of them at one time, we can get her back home.

We will try again in the coming days.  I am sure we will keep the board abreast of the "sitchiation"

Thanks for all of the positive feedback!!!

Valerian has never worked well for me.  I'd go for the ComfortZone spray on a bandana as suggested.
