zdog writes: "make changes to the things that are really affecting these dogs and the sport?". I submit that when people behave badly at events, especially when they are participants, it does, indeed reflect badly on the participant, the sport, and the organization whether we want it to or not. I see people who decline to get involved because there is a rough element to the sport. All of us get frustrated. All of us get disappointed. But not all of us act as some do in this sport when things do not go the way we would like.

The rules about sportsmanship should be fairly and evenly enforced. And if some participant is dismissed for unsportsmanlike conduct, the judge should be required to pull that individual aside and notify him/her. Further, for the person in question, I agree 100% that had this been someone else, someone who has supposedly done a lot for the sport and been on the podium, the behavior might have gone without comment and that is blatantly unfair. I respect the fact that he/she gave his/her version, although I do not condone the behavior.

Finally, while all of us have been frustrated at one time or another, perhaps it would be good for all of us to reflect upon just how unimportant trialing stuff is in the big scheme of life. There is always another day, another trial, another chance. There are far worse things than failing a SchH event.

I feel that a person who displays such behaviour in front of a judge and spectators and fellow competitors at a trial is either very unstable, very unintelligent...Or both.

Perhaps before this person is allowed to compete again, he should be forced to undergo anger management classes?  This would especially apply if he is a repeat offender.

This just gives the anti-dog people more leverage...

And to think, if he does this to his dogs and people he doesn't even know, what's he doing to those who must interact with him daily?

WTF are you talking about?  He didn't DO anything to his dogs!   Anger Management????  He is giving Anti Dog People leverage???  If you aren't joking, then you MUST be kidding.  Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Just when I thought this thread couldn't get any more rediculous, it does

I had anger management.  I came out of a class (horse show) that I completely blew and kicked the stall door hard enough to crack some boards.  Next thing I knew my mom was cracking me on the ass with a whip.  That was my anger management class and my sportsmanship has greatly improved.  So has my love of whips.

Mi GSD, Great post--you gave me my first laugh of the morning. It was much needed, as I am sitting through a boring seminar at the time. :-)

Wow.  I guess I am kinda in shock reading some of this.  It's common knowledge that this persons issues are worst at home training than what you see at trials.  Why is anyone surprised that he was called on it for unsportsmanlike conduct? I guess I'm surprised at the people that defend this crap.  Is that what this board is about?  It kinda makes me wonder how they train there dogs where nobody can see. Think references.  Ask people who have bought puppies from them and worked with them and seen how he trains the dogs he has. I learned a lot about the litters that had pups that were sharp and had questionable nerves and hips issues too.  Theres no substitute for research.  I saw a smart mouth remark about first time posters.  This isn't my first post.  Its my second and my last.  If this and everything I read over the past months is what this board is about y'all can have it.  Its all about useless.  Is there a separate section for training and training issues that newbies don't know about?  If there is how's about posting that so them that want to learn dont have to wade through this kind of shit to get there.

Not to hijack this thread but in the tracking incident in the S.E. referred to above, the individuals making the complaint will not produce the written permission from the owner of the field they claim to have nor can they produce the insurance rider protecting the owner which they stated they had. There is more to this incident than can be posted today and remember, only the individuals making the accusations  have been heard from. No comments have been made by the person attacked nor by the owner of the property. Future details will set the record straight and some people will have egg on their face.

Nollaigin

While I agree with you that this board lacks training topics/threads, sitting around and whining about it does nothing.  There is a box at the top of the messageboard that reads, "POST NEW MESSAGE".  Why don't you grow a pair and start a thread on training.  I don't understand how someone can criticize others for doing the same thing as yourself.  The example you are setting is not exactly stellar.  You lurked for a couple of months, then you joined in on the criticism and bickering.   What's that old saying George W. always says?  People with stones shouldn't buy glass houses?

Gotta love the internet. The playground of choice for people who like to hide behind anonymous screen names and engage in character assassination for their own amusement. Nollaigin, Obviously you know nothing about us, our training, or the dogs we have bred. You say "Think references"... ever tried it sometime? Apparently not, since the people who train with us, know our dogs, and own our dogs certainly would NOT agree with your "common knowledge".
